Sources: Kevin Love has been added on Rockets list

If we sub in Nene for the next 10 games, does his cap # increase in trades from $2.5 MM to $5 MM? He'll have hit the incentive and there's no way to "un-hit" a Games Played target.

All of the sources mentioned that Morey couldn't magically turn 2.5$ into 10$ and back into $2.5 once traded.

I know people including Bima Thug said this wasn't possible but I'm seriously wondering if we can fully guarantee his incentives and trade him at $10 but that means he's $10 + $2.5 guaranteed next season. The Rockets didn't fight harder on this and I wonder if something was agreed upon with the league that never leaked.

 

Interesting - can you remove incentives from a contract and just guarantee the salary? @BimaThug / other capologists, would love your insight here

Morey didn't fight harder on the league's ruling and this was an unprecedented move by the league to deny this contract as others have done it before. It makes me think that an agreement was made behind the scenes.

Makes no sense. Why would it not be leaked? GMs needs to know all the stipulations. I would agree it appears Rockets should have fought harder, but I’m sure if we saw what was happening behind closed doors it would make more sense. It’s BS. That contract would have done wonders for our team and was within the rules. But I’m totally beating a dead horse by bringing it up again.

 

Lakers and Heat had done it within the past few years. Made zero sense why the Rockets were denied on it. There had to be something else there. Why is Nene even signed? He didn't show at training camp or media day, and hasn't even shown up to a single game or practice. It makes no sense for anyone involved.

 

There’s nothing else there. As to why Nene is signed, didn’t he opt out of a contract and then sign this? They probably had to make good on their word. If not that then he was simply signed as trade bait
