As the Washington post says... "Impeachment Exposes the Widening Gap Between Republicans and the Truth."

Republican Group Hits Donald Trump With Scathing New Billboard Campaign

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/republicans-for-the-rule-of-law-billboards-trump-135139335.html

A conservative group is targeting House Republicans with a digital billboard campaign that is heavily critical of President Donald Trump.

In the new ads, Republicans for the Rule of Law calls out Trump for prohibiting key witnesses in the Ukraine scandal from testifying in the House impeachment inquiry against him.

The ads show Trump with a finger over his mouth to indicate that he wants silence. He appears next to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, former National Security Adviser John Bolton, acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney and Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, in the images.

All apart from Trump have tape placed over their mouths to keep them from speaking.

“What Is Trump Hiding?” ask the ads, which will be placed in the congressional districts of House Republicans, including Reps. Greg Walden (Ore.), Mac Thornberry (Texas), Fred Upton (Mich.) Brian Fitzpatrick (Penn.), Adam Kinzinger (Ill.) John Katko (N.Y.) and Martha Roby (Ala.).

House Democrats unveiled two articles of impeachment against Trump on Tuesday. Trump is accused of abuse of power in relation to his alleged pressuring of Ukraine’s president to investigate potential 2020 Democratic rival Joe Biden, and obstruction of Congress, following his administration’s stonewalling of the congressional probe into the initial allegation.

“The president doesn’t own the government and he’s not above the law,” Republicans for the Rule of Law spokesperson Chris Truax said in a statement to HuffPost. “He’s merely a caretaker acting on our behalf and when Congress demands an accounting, it’s the President’s duty to comply.”

“President Trump has been given every opportunity to answer the charges against him,” the statement continued. “He demands friendly witnesses, yet refuses to allow his most loyal supporters to testify. He complains the proceedings are unfair, yet refuses to allow his lawyers to participate in the hearings.”

“If President Trump really could prove he is innocent of the impeachment charges against him, he would have made some effort to do so by now,” Truax concluded. “If the President really does think the facts will exonerate him, why won’t he let those facts come out?”

Last month, Republicans for the Rule of Law launched an ad campaign on Fox News in a bid to educate GOP voters on the facts of the Ukraine scandal.

"Later this week, the Judiciary Committee will meet to consider these articles of impeachment and to make a recommendation to the full House of Representatives. We do not take this action lightly.....That is why we must take this solemn step today." ~ Nancy Pelosi announcing Impeachment vote

Seriously, the GOP is telling people that the man who had to pay 2 million for stealing from a charity is only concerned about corruption.

    Give me a ****ing break.

The best evidence that Trump really did something wrong and that the Republicans are scared of the public turning on him is that they are seemingly choosing to deal with the political backlash of a complete partisan coverup of a Senate Trial vs the politics of an actual trial where the evidence is allowed to come to the floor of the senate.

Choosing that political backlash vs the other is a pretty damning portrayal of Donald Trump as a completely corrupt president. They have no good hands left to deal. It’s the best of the worst, and winning in the end relies on pure banana republic type of lies, authoritarian tactics, and corrupt coverups. The GOP with Trump at the helm are on the verge of forever destroying any semblance of a healthy democracy we have left.

Typical of you. Can't defend your representatives WATCHING GOLF during the "solemn hearings" so go after the source reporting it.

At what point in the hearing was this? If it was while waiting for someone, others votes, during recess, Lindsay Graham's lies, etc, then it's not a big deal at all.

Is it real? That is very easy to edit. If it's real and it was during something important shame on him.

Right now we don't really know.

Would be hard to be during Graham's comments since he's a Senator and this guy is a congressman. Meanwhile congrats. Nobody has defended his actions yet...except you.

If its not real, there are a LOT of publications in on the thing.
Why didn't you just take the 30 seconds to do a google search and check? Nah, easier to try and deflect the indefensible amiright?

This so called, SOBER HEARING for impeachment.....wasn't and never could be with the clowns on the left running it.

Wrong. I said that if it was during testimony shame on him. You haven't explained at what point that happened. If it was on the screen from a recess but he wasn't watching it during the hearing, then I don't care about it at all.

It doesn't make the hearings any less sober.

Officials said Saturday that Rep. Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey, a vocally anti-impeachment Democrat, will join the Republican Party in the coming days, following a Friday meeting with President Trump — delivering a political jolt to Democrats ahead of next week’s expected vote to impeach the president.

Two Democratic officials familiar with Van Drew’s discussions in recent days said they believe he has decided to switch parties. The White House meeting was confirmed by a Trump administration official and one of the Democratic officials.

Van Drew, his chief of staff and his communications director did not respond to requests for comment Saturday.

Van Drew, who won a previously Republican seat in 2018, has been a critical voice opposing impeachment inside the Democratic ranks, saying that the process is too divisive and comes too close to the 2020 presidential election. A member of the centrist Blue Dog Coalition, Van Drew has positioned himself at the rightmost flank of his party.

Representative Jeff Van Drew, Anti-Impeachment Democrat, Plans to Switch Parties
The freshman Democrat, who represents a New Jersey district where President Trump is popular, told aides he would announce his switch next week.

WASHINGTON — Representative Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey, a moderate Democrat who is among his party’s staunchest opponents of impeaching President Trump, told aides on Saturday that he is planning to switch parties and declare himself a Republican as soon as next week, just as the House is casting its historic votes on articles of impeachment.

At a White House meeting on Friday, Mr. Van Drew sought Mr. Trump’s blessing for the move, which could be critical to his ability to avoid a primary challenge next year, and the president urged him to make the jump, according to two Democrats and one Republican who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to disclose the talks.

Mr. Van Drew has spoken with senior advisers to Mr. Trump about announcing his switch at an event at the White House either immediately before or just after the House votes on two articles of impeachment, which is expected to happen on Wednesday, according to Republicans and Democrats.

Beyond the potential boost to Mr. Van Drew’s own political fortunes, the move would also provide a silver lining for Mr. Trump as he becomes the third president ever to be impeached. The president has characterized the drive to remove him as an entirely partisan exercise that will cost Democrats their majority in the House, and a high-profile Democratic defection could help bolster his case while allowing him to divert attention from the vote.

The New Jersey congressman’s decision reflects the heavy political consequences hanging over next week’s impeachment vote, particularly for moderate Democrats in districts that supported Mr. Trump in 2016. While there is little doubt that Democrats will have the votes to approve the charges against the president in a near party-line vote, a small number of their conservative-leaning members are deeply uncomfortable with the idea of taking part in a Democrat-only impeachment vote and are spending the weekend torn over how to proceed.

It happened during the hearings. If you had even a modicum of curiosity, you would have simply googled it faster than you wrote the above. It took me 2 minutes to search, watch the video, post it, and write this. Don't be so lazy and disingenuous.

Democrats show support for the President and his cup and are immediately attacked by the rabid alt right -- no shame.
