They are like best friends with the McCullers. But she’s about to have a baby.

Getting the vibe this is going to be a disappointing offseason. We still have the talent, but we need to re-tool in certain areas. Really worried that FA's will stay away from here due to the investigation/drama. Just what the Yankturds want.

where do they need to “re-tool”? They need a catcher pretty badly. And if possible they need to hit on a couple prospects to restore their top end talent on the farm. Other than that they are in really great shape across the board. They’re currently the favorite to win the 2020 World Series.

That was just his playing career, not coaching career.

Yankees adding Cole and Dodgers adding Rendon and we're cutting payroll due to the luxury tax. Man that would suck :( As we've seen, anything can happen at least

    They're not cutting payroll.

Springer's possible extensions, all the other extension raises, arbitration raises means their payroll is going up regardless of any other moves. Extending Verlander, Altuve, and Bregman were big ticket items that do prohibit endless spending elsewhere.

What's new? Nothing. Nike now makes MLB's uniforms.

Also, the reality is that while Houston is a good market, it isn't on par with NY or LA who have massive income streams that the Astros do not have. Right now the Astros have the second highest payroll in baseball and a willingness to go over that number for the right player/players.

If anyone should be upset, it is Chicago Cubs fans. Their owner makes an incredible amount of money off the team, the television rights, and all the adjacent land he used the Chicago city counsel to bully into selling to him at a lower rate. Even with this, ownership has said to slash payroll.

Strasburg re-signs with that Nats, 7/$245M.

This should close the door on the small chance of re-signing Cole, he's going get $275+.

Some stupid money being thrown around thus far. Let's hope there are some trades on the horizon.

Strasburg had a 3.32 ERA last season and injury issues. Nats overpaid big time.

Cole's going to break the bank.

    Price is Right time:
8 years, $300 million. First pitcher to hit $300.

For one pitcher. I want Cole back, but that just doesn't make financial sense.

Cole wasn't this level of stud when we traded for him. Maybe there is another one out there. I just hope that we have been scouring like we always have and our time and resources haven't been sucked up with this trash can crap.

Definitely. I was actually hoping for us to sign Strasburg. I thought a shorter term, higher AAV would have appealed to him. Turns out he got the high AAV, just also 7 years as well! Good for him, and as much as I was hoping for the surprise signing, I am also happy we didn't sign him for that much.

I am almost certain that our front office will be as diligent and active as they are in any offseason. At least I hope so!
