Are there any affordable players that would allow us to match up with the Lakers?

If Ben keeps this up, trading him with a FRP for Isaac becomes somewhat realistic.

Ben fits more of a need in Orlando as they are stacked at the 4/5.

Yes really. I would be ecstatic if we ended the season winning 21 of 24 bottom feeder games. We would all be.

Ben makes 2.0. Isaac makes 5.8. Who else is getting sent over to make up the 2.5 million or so in additional salary the Rockets need to send out to make the trade legal?

Further, that trade and taking on salary would definitely make the Rockets luxury taxpayers. I'll believe Fertitta will pay the tax when I see it.

Rockets already match up with the Lakers. Save this post for later.

Again, this was why people like me were so pissed about not taking additional salary back in the WB trade, nor using Shumpert's Bird rights to get him paid and also bring back an expensive, talented player.

All of the recent moves talked about here concerning e.g., trading a very hot McLemore for a big, are great ideas. The Rockets just can't do any of them, unless they want to move Capela or Tucker. Which puts you right back where you started.

Or, LOL, they can see who wants WB...

I wish. If I'm Orlando I may want more than BMac and a first. I love Isaac, but I can't see Orlando parting with him. He's a cornerstone young talent. I played around with him a few times on the trade machine. It is a nice thought.

Rockets lost 3 in a row to Clippers, Nuggets and Mavs.

Rockets were sleepwalking during the Mavs games came back form 20 down.
Rocket should have won against the Clippers; defense and refs were trash to end the game.
Nuggets the only team to really beat the Rockets IMO.

With all that, I haven't even talked about the Spurs missed made dunk fiasco.

    Rockets only 4 games back.

I agree 100%, guess that's precisely the concern. We are already seeing how tight it's going to be (spoiler alert: just like the last few years), and seeing our stars and coach not giving the same importance to all games.

I love Isaac too bu ORL loves him even more than his parents do. No way he is available. And certainly not for McLemore, even with FRP.

That's one way of thinking about it, but that is coming from a glass empty mentality. I see it as the Rockets were f-cking around and are only a few games back of a team considered to be head and shoulders above everyone in the west.

I get that this year the standings will be tight, but what is weird, this year I don't feel the Rockets have any teams that you don't want to face where seeding would be crucial.

Last year, outside of the Warriors, I didn't want the Rockets to face OKC or yhe Clippers. This year nobody scares me.

    lmaoooooooooo

Orlando would hang up laughing, call you right back just to laugh at you again.

Isaac is a 22 year old DPOTY candidate. You think they will give him up for a bust and a late pick?

I'm not scared of them. They can beat us. Absolutely. But I'm not scared. Defensively, come playoff time, the Clippers will be better. But teams that play great defense don't scare me. It's the ones that can easily outscore us in short bursts. The Lakers cant do that.

I consider myself an optimist, and it is possible to be one and also a sharp critic, those are not mutually exclusive. This is sports, details matter and no one since Shaq has won without paying attention to those, even when the East was weak you had to cover all your bases just to get out of the west.

Now the East has 2 to 4 detailed oriented talented teams. We have not matched with Lebron and Clippers have played us without putting PG and Kawhi on Harden.

Also, it's truth that we are growing every game and we have yet a "ceiling" to reach consistently. Look, I'm the biggest James and Daryl supporter, but they were the ones setting up the big stage, this is a title or bust season, per their declaration, not ours. We are just comparing them against that standard.

the roster likely is what it is. lets just hope ben mac is for real and EGO isnt statistically the worst player in the league when he gets back.

The thing is, they don’t have to play those guys much. They can always just play AD at the 5, Bron at 4, and STILL have more size than us. AD doesn’t mind playing 5 against someone like Clint, he just doesn’t want to bang against someone like Embiid all game.
