trump easily won the district, as did every republican presidential candidate since at least 2000. The district has voted republican for senators. In fact the only Democrat that won was Kendra Scott, and she won by less than 2%.

Google searches and interest are two different things. You don’t have to Google search information on Trumps impeachment because you are likely already connected to sources of information. The Peleton thing is because you keep seeing and hearing people talk about this commercial and want to know what the deal is with it, and why everyone is freaking out about it.... hence a huge spike in searches. I googled about it early this week. You know what I didn’t have to Google... anything about Trump.
I'm no Constitutional scholar but I wonder what the framers felt about a hypothetical situation where a large segment of the nation is swept up by a cult of personality figure as the president who rampantly abuses his power in office where by sheer levels of cult of personality, the president is immune to any form of checks on his power. Did they consider @Os Trigonums of the world who believe ratings are more important than actually applying checks on a branch of the federal government? Because to me I see a giant loophole in our constitution that allows for a potential fascist regime.
I think the evidence that they actually did is the Senate’s 6 year term. Giving them the ability to make decisions that might not be popular, but protect the institutions. I doubt they thought someone like Mitch McConnell could control the Senate though. But I do think the Senate being where the trial happens is pretty good evidence they thought this is where an impeachment of a populist fascist president should be tried. The issue is it’s not looking like the institution will hold up the way the framers had hoped it would.
