Commissioner has proposed shortened season (thanks to idiot Lebron) and reseeding playoffs, along with an in-season tournament and playoff for the 8th seed. Good or bad for the Rockets?

a shortened season would only help a very old Rockets team featuring 40% usage Harden...then again, it could help other teams too

Still 2 years away (if it happens)
Rockets may be playing in that play-in tournament by then. :p

Two four-team tournaments featuring the seventh, eighth, ninth, and 10th seeds in each conference. The seventh seed would host the eighth seed, with the winner of that single game earning the seventh spot. The ninth seed would host the 10th seed, with the winner of that game facing the loser of the 7-versus-8 matchup for the final playoff spot.

I think there are too many games and too many teams make the playoffs. I would rather have them play two to three times per week. Play each team twice- once at home and once on the road. Get rid of East Vs West, conferences, and divisions. Seed based on record. Have a bracket similar to the NFL with 1st round bi for the top seed on each side of the bracket.

If they don’t cut the number of games then at least cut the number of teams that get in like baseball does.

You want every game to be played at a high level of intensity with fully healthy teams and it’s just not possible over an 82 game season. The regular season games need to matter more. It would make a much better product.

Woj just had reported it on ESPN. Says it looks like the players union will likely approve it and has no issues.

anything that would or could potentially help us would just simply be offset with more intensified ref rigging. there is no constant definitive for the latter, it is fully at silver's own discretion at a time, place, and necessary amplification level of his choosing. both LA teams must meet in the WCF, period.

i would be for a single-game knock out playoffs, that way each year, some lucky non deserving team could win a ring.

A bit. But something has to be done about the whining, fake injuries, and load management.

Are guys going to take a pro-rated pay cut if they play fewer games?

Yeah , that's the best idea yet.

Really no competitive advantage to any of these changes when they affect everyone.

Personally, if they wanted to make a dramatic change that helps make the games more meaningful, add a relegation system.

I know the owners would never approve of it but it would be exciting at least and tanking would be unheard of.

Keep regular season at 82 games

    No in-season tournament

    Eliminate back-to-backs

Have the NBA Awards show right after the regular season ends.

Start the playoffs 2 weeks after the regular season ends.

Make the first round best-of-5 again

This seems really dumb. How many teams would want the 8th spot and lose a lottery pick.

Me preferably I believe best of 5 series for all playoffs would be better than best of 7.
