Nothing clicking on offense. No run game, receivers not getting open, Sam missing throws if not holding onto the ball too long, etc... Only thing we can hope now for is massive changes to the staff and holding the recruiting class together somehow.
Lots of late era Charlie vibes now. So much of this is a failure of coaching. Does CDC back up the truck to Urban Meyer's house?
The Horns are a really soft team. Really disappointing. I loved the Herman hire but I'm starting to have questions. These are mostly his guys. Wonder what Urban's been up too?
TIFWIW but an “insider” on 247 board said last week that a big time donor reached out to Urban’s agent. He followed up after the game saying Urban has interest. Yes it is probably complete crap but that’s where I’m at right now.
I was ecstatic over the hire and still think it can be salvaged. Dabo went 6-7 his 3rd year, hired Chad Morris and well the rest is history. There was talk about buying out Ed O this time last year, he hires Joe Brady and is running the number 1 team in the country. That being said, if Urban is available...I’m in.
Reports that LB Juwaan Mitchell took a swing at Yancy McKnight before the game and was benched. No confirmation but mod on 247 said a punch was thrown earlier in the week. This isn’t good.
More message board fodder: Smoke starting to build on Herman's job security. Apparently something CDC is now contemplating after the loss and some internal issues have begun to surface. Some names being mentioned are James Franklin and PJ Fleck. Like I said, likely complete crap but who knows. Whatever it is, CDC has a big issue on his hands similar to Perrin. Although I have the utmost confidence in CDC to navigate whatever comes his way, but how much can he invest into new coordinators/assistants of Herman's choosing?
What is the speculation on internal issues? I still like Herman and think he’s the right coach. Luckily I have no control over what happens so we’ll see how things end up.
My biggest issue with Herman is his assistant hires. He hired a guy that coached mediocre offenses at Nebraska and wasn't allowed to call plays at OSU to be the offensive coordinator. On the defensive side of the ball, we need a DB coach that can teach fundamentals. It doesn't matter how good Todd Orlando's schemes are if our CB can't cover anyone or tackle.
Typical losing the locker room, coaches not on the same page, etc...Something an “insider,” who I think has a little more credibility just posted that apparently CDC and Herman got into it as well. Smoke seems to be growing...
Urban is gonna get another shot, just a matter of when and where. I have little doubt he'd love the opportunity to take over and show up Herman.
Urban would be great. Give him 10mil a year and let him to do whatever. Heck why not just bring in briles.
