"The only guy with the physical traits & skill to play this way. You could put any guy in that system, and THEY ARE *NOT* doing what he's doing right now. Has that unique combo of strength, skill, IQ."

Legler puts the national media on notice.

people really think Harden wouldn’t absolutely dominate the 90s...LMAO

all those former players crying about how the game is softer...place them in this era and they’ll still be clearly inferior to Harden

Harden is top 20 all time EASILY with just 1 ring, and Lord have mercy if he manages to get more than that

SVP on the Harden wagon now after trashing him in last year's Warriors series.

To see what he did last night playing against another guy who would thrive in the 80s-90s game tells me all I need to know... when properly motivated, Harden is a juggernaut in any era.

Now that he turns 30, a tad late.

Top 1 with rings. Only thing Jordan got on him is golf and selling shoes.

He is unique. He's not built like a guard. He's built like a tank, and he takes full advantage of it. Any other guard in the league would just physically break trying to do what Harden has done with almost no time off from injury (*knocks wood*) for his whole career. The genius of Harden, though, is knowing how to simultaneously give opponents the threat of raw power and extreme dexterity and finesse to contend with. No one else can do that; he is unique.

Old players are always going to be jealous of other players. I don't take their opinion seriously when they sound salty. Harden is a damn good player and it's too bad that people fight to recognize this just because he goes to the free throw line (as if any other great scorer in history did not go to the free throw line).

Could have said the same thing about Harden last year. But nah, Giannis had to win the MVP.

Yeeeeah. Last year the narrative turned after the Rockets released their own person ref report. SVP took the stance of foul-baiting. And never once talked about Thompson landing in his landing zone. This was pretty infuriating because it was one sided and without context.

I guess, here, SVP respects Legler's opinion on the matter and changes his mind or basically just *rolls with* whatever the narrative at the time is. Though I don't paint him as that kind of guy...but who knows.

I've watched almost every single Tim Legler's videos regarding Harden since 2017 and he is definitely aboard the Harden train.

He's probably one of the few ex-nba players that thinks Harden would absolutely dominate in the 80s

Over the years, he's made valid critiques like: "Harden has to move without the ball when CP3 has the ball in his hands or they will struggle in this series (talking about vs the Warriors)" which is 100% accurate, since we all know how lazy he is when he is playing off-ball.

The 90's narrative is about being physical. Harden wouldn't be affected much, but a player like Curry would. Don't recall many people saying Harden couldn't thrive in that era. He would only have to deal with better shot blockers when he drives.

Yeah, Harden is a very special/unique player and could have easily played in any era of the game and been phenomenal. Like he'd be able to take those hard fouls because of how strong he is and keep playing, anyone who doesn't think Harden wouldn't be able to play in the 80s/90s or any time for that matter is crazy and doesn't watch bball.

Now Curry on the other hand... Great shooter, probably the greatest, but he'd be broken by the Detroit Bad Boys before the end of the 1st quarter. I mean sure he'd shoot in any era and be awesome at that part, but he wouldn't be protected and would probably been taken down by a nasty foul. I don't think that period was necessarily better for basketball but it certainly was different and it did limit who would be able to keep playing after getting hit by a common foul/no foul (which would now be like a flagrant 2).

I think in a lot of ways fans really miss all of the nuance in Harden's game. They see Harden, they hate him and that is that.

    But the nuances......
Like, his dribbling and swaying is to try to get the defender to commit in a direction and get off balance.

Like Harden chooses WHERE he is going to step back to on a step back. Is it straight back? Is it sideways? He keeps the defender guessing. Harden is willing to accept the defender undercutting him. This puts his body at risk every time. He practices landing safely.

Harden drives the lane with arms extended baiting the defender. Harden will shield a defender BEHIND him on a drive. Sometimes slow down.

Harden chooses his defender in ISOs. And sometimes dribbles to an area to improve the floor spacing to eliminate double teams.

Harden's durability and ability to withstand attrition is underrated. He is an OX out there. So impressive.

Just so many things. He is a conductor out there. Just ELITE BB IQ.
