With Joe Biden fading, there is a serious void opening in the primary for the nomination by the Democrats, as a majority of Democrat voters in swing states would apparently prefer a more moderate candidate than many who are currently running.

Majority of Democratic voters in swing states prefer moderate nominee: New York Times Poll

Most Democrats in the country’s battleground states want to vote for a candidate who is more centrist than liberal, according to a new survey.

A New York Times-Siena College poll released Friday found that voters in Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Arizona, and Florida preferred a candidate who would work with the other side of the aisle. Of those surveyed, 62% said they want a nominee who promises “to find common ground with Republicans,” compared to 33% who said they want a nominee who fights “for a bold progressive agenda.”

Additionally, 55% said they want the candidate to be “more moderate than most Democrats,” while 39% preferred the candidate to swing further to the left than most. Respondents were split on how they want to see the candidate handle the role, with 49% preferring that the nominee bring “politics in Washington back to normal” and 45% hoping for a “fundamental, systemic change to American society.”

ex-Mass Governor Deval Patrick said to be considering throwing his hat in the ring:

    https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/11/...tion=click&module=Top Stories&pgtype=Homepage

    excerpt:

Former Gov. Deval Patrick of Massachusetts has told Democratic officials that he is considering making a last-minute entry into the 2020 presidential race, according to two Democrats with knowledge of the conversations, the latest evidence of how unsettled the party’s presidential primary is less than three months before the Iowa caucuses.

Mr. Patrick has told party leaders that he doesn’t think any of the candidates running have established political momentum and that he thinks there is an opening for somebody who can unite both liberals and moderate Democrats, according to Democrats who have spoken to him.

At the same time, Massachusetts Democrats close to Mr. Patrick have started to reach out to prominent party leaders in early nominating states to alert them that he may run, according to one Democrat who has received an inquiry.

NEW ORLEANS — Former Gov. Deval Patrick of Massachusetts told senior Democrats Wednesday that he will enter the presidential race, according to two party officials, reversing his decision last year to forgo a run and adding yet more volatility to an unusually fluid Democratic primary.

Mr. Patrick was calling a list of Democrats to inform them of his decision and is expected to begin his campaign with a video before appearing in person in New Hampshire to file his paperwork to be on the primary ballot there. He did not immediately reply to a text message.

Patrick and Bloomberg getting in says that there is not a lot of confidence in the current field.

Hillary, Hillary, wherefore art thou Hillary?

I'm reading some speculation in a couple of places that Obama is the one pushing Patrick's entry into the race

Patrick isn’t a big enough name to get in this late and make a serious run.

I know who he is; everyone here probably does too. But your average voter?

Not necessarily. They could just be narcissists suffering from irrational overconfidence. Happens all the time, especially in politics. I'm guessing they never pass Tulsi Gabbard, but let's see.

To have the audacity to say you're the best person to occupy one of the most powerful offices in the world, you pretty much have to be. I'm smarter than half these clowns and I wouldn't dream to suggest that anyone entrust me with that responsibility. But to have someone like Beto or Tulsi tell me they're ready to be president after a couple of years in the House, or Steyer or Bloomberg or Trump say I'm a billionaire so I'm capable of doing this job -- how do they have the audacity to pitch that to me? Why shouldn't I laugh in their faces?

He has a chance to carve out some support. He’s a moderate that isn’t in his 70s and could probably pull some of the black vote. Basically will be trying to pull some of the Biden and Buttigieg potential voters. With the way Mayor Pete has shot up after the last debate, Patrick sees on opportunity.

Question will be if he can gain traction quickly. If he can, he might have a chance.

Mayor Pete takes the lead in decisive fashion in Iowa in the most recent poll, and also in the RCP poll average.

    Iowa (DMR/CNN): Buttigieg 25, Warren 16, Biden 15, Sanders 15, Klobuchar 6

    Iowa (RCP Average): Buttigieg 21, Warren 19, Biden 18, Sanders 17, Klobuchar 5, Harris 4, Steyer 3

So Mayor Pete is a national player for the Democrats now. If he wins Iowa, everyone will need to refigure their projections going forward, because that will change everything.

The Democrats are not really going to nominate this guy, are they?

    Deval Patrick?

Well he knows how to play both sides of the fence.

I believe he is still involved with Bain Capital and certainly has the support of the business community.

He has in poverty until the "system" sucked him up and groomed him and appreciated his intelligence and hard work.

He is not firmly "the man".

He also has a corruption issue........ maybe he and Trump can discuss the best way to **** **** the American people.
