They were done tanking by that time … Morey would have replaced Hinke. It was last year that there was talk of him going to Philly.

I could see them parting ways too …. Morey's probably tired of throwing away assets and letting others rot on the vine rather than turning them into something useful.

Les was "frugal" …. Tilman is just downright cheap.

Here's the list of assets thrown away in the last 3 years.

    Ariza's bird rights
    MLE 3 straight years.
    Ryno & Melton
    Chriss
    Brandon Knight
    Ennis
    1st
    2 2nds
    Shumpert's bird rights
2 $3m+ TPE's rotting on the vine as we speak.

Imagine the possibilities of having a $20m expiring contract , Melton , a #1 and 2#2's to add pieces to this current roster and all you had to do was pay the tax last year. Its only money and you stand a real good chance of recouping that and more if you win a championship - the ability to add a $25m salary to this current group would really increase the odds of that happening.

Assets and opportunity are finite - Money is not.

I don't want to hear how Tilman is "doing everything possible to win" …. That's a crock of manure.

This team was going to beat the greatest team of all time before CPs injury and the rigged refs.

Why cant we be the greatest team of all time though. How many years has Morey had exactly? KD went down for GSW and they still beat us. CP3 going down should not mean we lose by missing 1000s of threes. I defend the Rockets on that every chance I get but really they had no business missing that many threes.

The fans are a tenuous fit with Tilman. The way some UH homers ride for Fertitta can be embarrassing.. not on here but some things I have encountered personally.

Below is not the kind of multiple transactions that Morey makes unless the owner is penny pinching. Losing roster/trade flexibility and throwing away young players and draft picks. Laughable.

Somewhere, Son Fertitta is reading this outloud excitedly to daddy, without understanding sarcasm.

Ouch. If Morey leaves, I'm about to be pissed indefinitely. Unless he gets replaced by Ujiri, in which case I will only be mildly pissed, and then I'll remember we still have Fertitta meddling regardless of the GM, and I'll be pissed again.

Fertitta could call David Khan, or Isaia Thomas, or try to lure over Steve Mills! Kevin McHale is still available!

No they didn’t, but they were still going to win the game, and game 6, until the refs kicked in. those games were rigged and no one can change my mind. And if you really meant “why can’t we be the greatest team of all time” then you really need to lower your expectations lol.. you can’t reasonably ask that

You can when you have the my dynamic offensive player of all time. He really only needs more star help and we would be a juggernaugt. Its easier said than done but again morey is supposed to be a genius and he's had 7-8 years with Harden and managed to get him a slew of scrubs and gleaguers oh yeah and aging Dwight Howard and aging Chris Paul.

Honestly, I no problem faulting the father, but I can’t fault the son yet for taking an opportunity like that. I’d have done the same, and at the end of the day, he might be a mitigating for example regarding his dad’s short sighted business practices.

We only hear about nepotism when it doesn’t work. There are plenty of examples of families being counter measures to each other. Granted, the Tilman’s definitely aren’t the Rothchilds, but Jr. might be a positive force for us when it’s all said and done.

Thank you, at least for saying that about RealGM. Since when have they been taken seriously around here?

As for Tilman, he reminds me of a 1920's silent movie, where a steam locomotive with a damsel in distress aboard is barreling across a flimsy bridge above a gorge, and you just know that bridge is going to collapse. Tilman is that train. Maybe he'll make it across. At this point, I'm not terribly optimistic, but I'm not devoid of hope. We still have Harden in his prime and we still have Daryl Morey, one of the league's very best GM's. Maybe our train will rocket across that gorge, the chick will be saved, and she'll be holding up a huge trophy as the credits roll. Fingers crossed.

I don't have an issue with him personally, and maybe you're right, but I have issues with family members being on a Houston sports mural and being consulted on basketball decisions. It's cheesy x100. If you want real experience, have Father Fertitta get you a position with another team to groom you. I think that would be valuable.
