Yeah because the students were threatened in advance.

I have no doubt plenty of those southern whites support Trump as I see the same idiocy here in Texas. He’s been feeding their fears of their loss of lifestyle, jobs, religion at the hands of immigrants and liberals.

but to champion the fact he was cheered for, after the university threatened students, in a (R) stronghold shows just how desperate the (R)’s are to show he is still supported.

If @DaDakota was one of those students, he would have booed.
iGen is a bunch of pansies, afraid to put their football seats where their mouth is.

amirite? They can’t boo Trump again, without being hypocrites like businesses afraid of China.

Rice Students would have booed. Seats be damned. GO OWLS!!

Okay this what the students were told specifically.

    https://time.com/5722341/alabama-trump-football-protest/

The memo, from Jason Rothfarb, the student government’s vice president of student affairs, said additional security would be in place during the game. It said “any organizations that engage in disruptive behavior” will be “instantly” removed and banned from block seating—seats reserved by student organizations for their members—for the rest of the season.

If you're a person inclined to boo Trump, being threatened will just make you want to boo him even more. And unless you're in the extreme minority as a booer, they probably won't be able to take reprisals on everyone anyway. Finally, even if you're afraid to boo, you'd just remain silent and not cheer. So, I'm inclined to think threats have little to do with it.

We are talking about a football game in the American blood-red South. Of course he was cheered.

He learned at the Nationals game: Don't stray from your core audience! Imagine him attending an NBA game in, say, New York (oh, that'd be fun to watch).

I guarantee you if he figured out a way to get rid of James Dolan he would be cheered at an NBA game in New York . . . just sayin'

In other words they were not told they could not "boo" the President.

In other equally shocking and relevant news, Trump was cheered loudly at the last Trump rally.

If time.com has it right, they only threatened student organizations. At best, they could only stifle organized protest. It wouldn't really stop organic booing.

That said, a public university stifling the political speech of the student body is problematic.

Alabama lost the game, which is good for the nation.
