Personally i don't think Trez is much different as a player or is doing different stuff now, when he was here in his last season he played pick & roll really well with James and had some very good games before getting glued to the bench in the last weeks of the season and playoffs, the biggest difference is that now he got bigger and stronger so, his game is more effective, but i don't think he's has changed much.
Doesn’t change the fact that wouldn’t get thebopportbtonsowhatvrhbdoes in LA in Houston. We don’t give bigs, or any player for that the Matter, in the high post and let them go to work. He’s doing more than being a cleanup guy in LA
They sent those guys to the DEVELOPMENTAL LEAGUE in order to get MORE playing time. That’s kind of the entire point to that league. Until we know they’re going to get rotation minutes on a consistent basis, THIS is the best way to develop these guys. Better than sitting at the end of the Rockets’ bench, hoping to get a little garbage time.
Nah PJ Tucker, Battier and Hayes would've dominated GLeague and put up monster stats like Hartenstein. They only look like roleplayers because they are in the NBA where the competition is the best in the entire world. If they are put against lesser opponents they will def put up more stats on the board. Shane Battier for example wasnt a roleplayer in college, he was voted National Player of the Year and was a top 4 lotto pick. PJ Tucker was 2nd team All American and a Big 12 Player of the Year. Chuck Hayes was SEC defensive player of the year. These people were big dogs in lower comp so you are obv wrong. And that was when they were still in college they obv became better in the NBA so for example if you put the current PJ Tucker in RGV he would probably score 30 a game. I don't know where you get your theory a person who doesn't play well in a lower level league is gonna contribute in the highest level of competition in the world. That stuff happens like Parsons but that is super rare.
Current PJ and prime Chuck Hayes not dominate G League? Really? Who do you think is better in the post prime Chuck Hayes or Hartenstein? Who do you think is a better defender and 3 pt shooter, PJ Tucker or Hartenstein? If someone is better than Hartenstein they will dominate GLeague if Hartenstein can dominate GLeague. Hayes and PJ are starters in an NBA playoff team you think they won't dominate GLeague? LOL! On another example KJ Mcdaniel averaged 5 pts in the NBA but 36.78 pts 14 rebs in the Philippine basketball league. That's what happens when these "roleplayers" go to a lower level league they turn into superstars. If a guy like Hartenstein can average 20 20 in the Gleague but can't get onto the floor in the NBA then the reverse is also true, role players like Rivers, PJ Tucker, Hayes and Battier will put up monster numbers in the GLeague where everyone is a step slow, less skilled and nobody plays defense.
I agree - Its hard to watch this team sometimes …. but its kinda hard to argue against the results. (This year not so much , they don't have the supporting cast).
Yeah and if they played in the GLeague a lot of what they do would def show in the boxscore too. If Hartenstein can average 20 20 in the gleague then Chuck and PJ can do it too.
No Chuck couldn't. 15 games in the d league, 13 starts, averaging 10.8 points in over 32 minutes. https://www.basketball-reference.com/gleague/players/h/hayesch01d.html
That wasnt the Chuck Hayes who was starting center for Houston Rockets. That was rookie Hayes and even then he averaged 10 pts and 11 rebs on 54% FG which is way superior to Clark's 12 pts 6 rebs 46% FG.
Which is why I like Pop's or Nick Nurse's philosophy of experimenting during the regular season, MDA keeps the players on too short of a lease.
Chuck's rookie season and second year were his best field goal percentages in the pros too. Back when he was shooting nothing but layups and dunks. It's not like he got much better on offense. Hayes never shot 3's of course like Clark does a lot of so that's a tough FG comparison. Hayes only averaged over 6 pts once. He wasn't in the league for offense. It just had to be decent enough for him to playable. I think it's the same for Clark. Hartenstein may be the opposite.
You are getting confused with GLeague and NBA. My point is people like Chuck Hayes who are only 3.7 ppg in the NBA would put up better stats in lower levels like G League, we can see this in how Chuck Hayes' rookie year he already had double double average, 11 pts and 12 rebs and that was when he wasnt good enough to crack the rotation. When he became good enough to be a starter in the team if he went back to GLeague he would have put up better stats than 11 and 12, there was just no need for him to do so. In Clark's case his average of 12 and 6 in GLeague on 30% 3 pt and 40% FG is really bad considering it is GLeague. That's why his NBA average is even worse it is 33%FG on 29% 3pt. If his average is 29% from 3 then sorry he might as well not shoot the 3 cuz it sucks. It's not a tough comparison because we have a stat called TS% that already takes 3 pts and fts into account, Clark's TS% is just garbage both in GLeague and in the NBA. If we had Jerry Sloan as coach and played half court offense maybe a total offensive liability like Clark might be used but we have MDA as coach and WB as pg, we need spacers not guys with broke shots.
