Warriors might be out of the question but you do realize that 30% of the league improved drastically such as clippers and lakers for example

 

Maybe some off-season in the future defense actually becomes a priority?

 

One possible way to interpret those numbers is that the Rockets are scheming adequately---manipulating opposing players into taking unfavorable shots (however we want to define 'unfavorable'). The problem is that Rocket players aren't devoting enough effort to ensure that those unfavorable shots succeed at historic rates. E.g., they don't get a hand in the shooter's face, they dont hustle to the shooter to force the shooter to rush his shot, or whatever else makes a good effort to defend a shot. So, the opposing shooter is getting cleaner looks---despite shooting from a 'bad' area of the floor---and is succeeding more than they should.

A similar method probably explains their rebounding problems, beyond their lack of size, of course.

All of this is just a guess, but it would explain the difference between how successful opponents should be, and how ridiculously successful they actually have been.

 

That's going to require effort from Harden and for Gordon to not be the worst defender in the league. I'll have to see it to believe it.

 

You've seen it plenty times before. We will be fine. I can't say I feel we are championship contenders, but we will still be a tough match up in the playoffs. I definitely don't expect the defense to approach top 10 levels unless something major happens, I do expect us to be more respectable.

Yeah, not buying that as a swipe last second or late close out might be rated as close but in reality it’s not. Or being close but not putting up an arm, something Harden does quite often.

 

You know the feeling the shooters get when contestant is smaller? They dont ****ing care. You can contest 6’8 guys with 6’3 defenders all you want it doesnt matter for a NBA guy
