I agree. I've been watching since the 70s when I was a kid. We were never, ever close to this good. I'm not even mad. I'm disappointed. But, after years and years of mediocre Astros baseball, I'm still in Astros heaven.

This choke job ranks right up there with Oilers choked job against Bills.

The Astros aren’t going into next season with Lance McCullers as their third starter. They’ll either figure out a way to keep Cole (yes, I know it’s unlikely) or they will sign at least one free agent starting pitcher.

Also, it’s not evident that Justin Verlander needs to be on an innings limit or strict pitch count next season. Sometimes really good pitchers get beat by really good hitters. The run Gerrit Cole went on during the regular season rarely, if ever, happens.

    Hard to disagree.

You'd think on paper we'd get to their bullpen...didn't happen.

They knocked Scherzer around both times they saw him...but could never drive in runs...0 clutch hitting at home. Absolutely 0.

Offense basically completely died in post season for sure. I think w/o Cole next year, it definitely depends on if they can make moves, but I wouldn't sleep on the owner/management though. Even the media who hates Houston quoted at least 2 years.

Astros played like a team not handling pressure well the entire post season.

    Yeah, maybe.

If true, he's not going to change.

    He's 35+ and we're depending on him as a #1.

You lose all four games at home this probably will never happen again.

Shades of the 05 White Sox pitching staff who beat the Astros three-headed monster of Clemens/Pettite/Oswalt. Offense was garbage that series too but they weren't a good hitting team to begin with. (unlike this team)

Is the Nationals manager still going to protest that call?

The Astros won a World Series in my lifetime. It’s incredibly hard for me to get mad after that. Jeff Lunhow has built one of the most talented rosters I’ve ever seen, and I’m grateful for that. Jim Crane wants to win like no other other owner this city has ever seen. Without his input, Zack Greinke is not an Astro today. He understands baseball, and I believe he’s prepared to make a very competitive offer for Gerrit Cole to be the long-term anchor of this staff.

No to the parade though, have to win it all for that. That's like having a parade for winning the afc/nfc or the WC/EC, and then losing the sb or championship, haha

Yeah, I thought he was due to have a big game today, surprised.

Just nothing worked out for us at home.

That's where I'm at. Charlie Morton, like Hakeem, brought it home, so all the old misery is abated. This sucks, but they'll be in the running.

I dont trust Verlander in a game 5/7 in any Playoff game.

Lance hasnt had a healthy season to this date. Urquidy is still a rookie next season. Cant expect him to be better then what Miley was for majority of the season.
