One good thing about all this...it's gotten Daryl to finally quit running his mouth to the media.

Freedom of speech is why a dumbass like Charles Barkley can make a career out of saying the dumbest things on national TV. Otherwise he would have been sent to a gulag or a re-education camp long ago for his low IQ and zero contribution to society.

And he did unite some people here and other fan bases. He also accumulated many more haters.

Americans have such a useful value that allow them to stomp on everyone else's value as they want. No wonder they name themselves the world police.

You're an idiot. You can call me an idiot. Yay America. Now call your government idiots. We can do that too. Also, the Chinese government criticizes US human rights record all the time. Everyone casts stones at everyone, and that should be fine. It's fine to call out the Chinese government for being snowflakes and tantrum throwing babies in reaction to someone disagreeing with them.
Disclaimer: I'm very familiar with the years of humiliation and historic track record that modern Chinese government officials use as sincere or false justification that paints so much of future policy goals. I'm also very familiar with the atrocities experienced by Mao that shaped his violent strategy of continuous revolution as solution to governing problems.

    America is awesome
This is why rich Chinese people move and buy houses in droves
And they can own their homes and have opinions

don’t believe me? Go to California

Also they get to watch NBA basketball because it’s not censored when a white nba general manager makes a tweet

If any general manager in the Chinese basketball league makes a tweet against America
nobody would care and nobody would cancel any CBA games

but nobody watches the CBA here unless they send their teams to the preseason and get destroyed by 70 points when James Harden is taking one legged three pointers

your government blocked the rockets ? Well that’s not our problem pal

    Houston Rockets
    Make The Rockets Houston Again
I hope China removes all those Chinese ads at Toyota center and replace it with Fiesta and Whataburger

I don’t care about your stupid Tencent mobile games

    @Jontro

That is not a problem with social media, but rather a longstanding problem with public perception by society in general. People as a majority are stupid. Most are completely unable to separate an individual's opinion from the group that the individual typically represents. No matter what Morey says, the majority of society will always view it as "He is speaking as a representative of the Houston Rockets". That's why when this first happened, I said that Morey was stupid for doing this. Regardless of his political stance or intentions, he dragged in a bunch of people that never wanted to get involved in this mess. This is where his critics are correct in saying that he was being selfish or at the very least, naive.

You are not properly understanding "freedom of speech" like most that are using that term. Freedom of speech is a US constitutional right, meaning domestic government. What this means is that (outside a few specific exceptions) Morey cannot be jailed for expressing his opinion or political stance. However, this does not mean he can speak his mind without being condemned by society or fired by the groups he represents.

America: One individual tweeting out that he supports freedom then quickly deleting it and apologizing means that you stomp on everyone else

China: Millions on concentration camps, destroying Hong Kong protesters like a repeat of Tiananmen Square, literally banning Winnie the Pooh because of meme making fun of their dictator, cancelling games and threatening Silver that he needs to fire Morey and sending out thousands of coordinated bots to bully a single individual means you have "values".

...or perhaps you have a f-ed up view of what stomping everyone else's values mean.

He pays his taxes (I presume) and entertains a lot of people. That's already a much bigger contribution to society than many. I actually met Barkley a couple of times when he lived in Pointe Royale and he has always seemed like a really nice guy. Can't say the same about a lot of people that many sees as having contributed to society.

Your dumb government made Daryl Morey the most famous general manager in the world now
And he might even win the Nobel peace prize

think about it. China made their Hong Kong problem worse . People who don’t even know what Hong Kong is are protesting cause your stupid government made this one tweet that 100 people saw into the whole world

Your feelings hurt and now you can’t see the Rockets

    too bad

Well yea go ahead call all each other idiots, cast stones and stuff, that's good for u!

Now what I am saying is other people have different values, other countries work differently. So when u call people with different values idiots and cast stones, they may take it differently. You are expecting other people you don't understand to react the same way you expect, which is unrealistic and naive. Think about it this way, let's say your value is orgy, you are free to talk about and have orgy with other orgynic people, but if you just walk up to some random guy and ask for orgy, they may get furious.
