@Clutch @Nook @cyberx According to Amick in a recent podcast, Morey’s approval rating was pretty low around the NBA before the China incident and now it’s even lower. (Players & Front Office types) Putting patriotism aside, Tilman can’t be too happy with the loss of some income from China. It’s just a lot of bad vibes around Morey. I can’t explain why, but this does feel like Morey’s last year. ( unless we make a Finals appearance ) I know Morey was recently extended but if Morey has to deal with a lot of BS around the league where it makes things tremendously difficult, I can see him stepping down. Do the Rockets have someone within the front office they think highly of? A Rising Star? I’ve only heard of Rosas but he’s with Minnesota.
Dude what if China invaded Hong Kong before the end of the basketball season Things can change really fast so just take it one day at a time and let’s see how this plays out
He could get plastic surgery and change his name. Murray is a common name as well. Or China could also not be a POS authoritative regime anymore. A lot can change man
I hate you and your thread, j/k, but it has to be Hinkie. That said, we don't need to have this convo now so why have it.
Tilman is not going to pay Morey and another GM at the same time. Morey is signed to a fat deal... (Not to mention the terrible press Morey/Houston/Tilman will get If he quits...)
The mark of a GM isn't whether he's liked or not, it's Wins/Losses. Barring a catastrophic meltdown for the Rockets this season, I would say this is very premature. Let's wait until the season starts to get the ball rolling on that discussion.
When Houston let's go one of the most successful GMs of the past two decades, then consider that the beginning of the end. We're the new Knicks and we've got Dolan 2.0.
China: Tilman fire your children and get new ones. Tilman: $hut up and Listen!, I don't have any children and I want to adopt $ome Chine$e babie$!!!
Exactly. And don't overlook that Morey has deftly managed to keep his bosses out of the luxury tax year after year while also putting one of the best teams in the league on the floor. Those two factors won't be lost on Tilman.
