Who said Jose gets the start over Peacock?

With the expected wind for Game 4 and 5, I'm generally just going to be worried.

Doubtful Cole pitches on short rest for the first time ever.

I think this is the right move. Worst case scenario I’d still do a bullpen game in game 6 rather than Cole in on short rest. Best case scenario, we’re coming home to get ready for the World Series.

That was the same scenario as last year.

I’m pretty sure Hinch flat out asked JV what he would rather do, and he chose to stay on normal rest and keep his preparation consistent.

there will be an increased emphasis on needing to get one of these two games now.

Mainly the fact that Urquidy is likely to be able to give you more innings. Both very likely to be used in the game, if we have to play a game 6

I genuinely don't really care because it has no bearing on the outcome but has anyone else noticed how most of the coverage of these games in the media has been from a Yankees perspective? Like what the yankees did or didn't do or how they lost as opposed to the Astros winning. Lotta talk about how the Yankees aren't hitting when the astros haven't broken out either.

That is always how it is when facing a NYC team.

Yeah, you're right. 15 W, 3.13 ERA for the regular season. He crashed towards the end of the year in his last two starts and his one playoff start. That was probably a combination of injury and too much rest, so I shouldn't include him as "Contract Year _____" at least in terms of his untainted pitching ability. I'll just return back to my theory that injuries and the unknowns surrounding them was why he wasn't kept for what he was asking.

Hinch's rotation is making me nervous. Suddenly these next two games have much more importance. I still would have felt good going back to Houston down 2-3 with Verlander and Cole on the mound for 6 & 7. Now if we go back 2-3 we have a bullpen game for game 6 or Cole pitching on short rest for the first time in his career followed by a bullpen game 7. Is the prospect of a pitching mess in games 6 and 7 worth trotting out Verlander in game 5?

Hard to argue with sending one of the two best pitchers in the AL out on normal rest.

If everyone assumes that JV would win game six, then they should assume he would win game 5.

I tend to like our ace pitchers without any other elements involved... while Cole still ended up dominant yesterday, I doubt he walks 5 if he was pitching at home.

Obviously, these guys are the best of the best and can pitch great anywhere... but to say the opposing environment has zero effect on a player is short-changing the home field advantage.

I would narrowly favor the Astros in Game 5 with Verlander facing Paxton. We saw how hard Game 2 was to win and that was at home. I would however heavily favor the Astros in Game 6 with Verlander facing (I'm guessing) Severino.

While it does make things tricky for the Astros, this become even trickier for the Yankees.

Nah. Cole pitched yesterday, 10/15. Game 4 has been postponed until Friday, 10/18. Greinke in Game 4, JV in Game 5 the next day. If it goes to Game 6, they'll travel on Sunday, and Game 6 would be on Monday, 10/21, in Houston. He'd actually be getting 5 days of rest, which is more than normal rest even for the regular season.

Which is a terrifying notion with Greinke going in Game 4.

It’s actually more straightforward for them. Tanaka tomorrow, Paxton Friday, Green as an opener Saturday, Severino Sunday.

Boone actually did limit the bullpen really well yesterday, despite only 4 from his starter. Cessa gave them 2 valuable innings, nobody else got more than one, and no need to use Chapman.

with the off day today, their bullpen now re-sets. If the Astros knock out their starters early from here on out, chances are they’re winning the series.

What are the chances tomorrow's game could be cancelled too?
