now pork is very expensive ...

the cheappest pork is 60 Yuan per kilogram .(it is 30 yuan before).
    7 Yuan=1 dollar.
chinese feed the pigs with pork (left by dinner),which spread the virus.

We know that. I am not asking about what the players get.
I am asking about what Anta Sports pays the NBA to be an NBA Partner. They have a sponsorship deal that allows them to put NBA logos on their shoes, for instance.

That's what I expected to hear.

The stupid trade war is hurting our pork producers (among many others), who would be gladly sending you all they could to make up for the shortfall. Supposedly those pork tariffs are being reduced soon.

Another question about the Chinese Cultural Revolution (1966-1976)

The Science Fiction novel The Three-Body Problem (三体) by Liu Cixin (刘慈欣) is very popular in China, right, and won awards -- Chinese Science Fiction Yinhe Award (The Galaxy Award -- 银河奖) But it is critical of the revolution, from the point of view of the main characters. Did Liu get much criticism from state media? Is it common for fiction books and movies to portray that era in a bad light?

btw: I didn't know anything about the '60s Cultural Revolution, until I read that book. Then I stopped to read more non-fiction about it.

Without getting too political in the Hangout...historically China has been very dishonest/inequitable in trade issues. It needed to be addressed. At the same time, the manner in which our current government has handled the situation has been by and large a disaster for America.

the good news is ,Liu is ok in china, the gov doesn't arrest him.and now he is welcome man to the gov.
actually The Three-Body Problem does't portray the true evil of the Cultural Revolution.so it is ok for LIu.
during Cultural Revolution ,chinese kill each other without any trial ,just in the name of Mao.
    all schools shut down.
many scientists and educated people killed or detained.
    workers striked.
too many valuable building destroyed in the name of 'destroy old thing'.
communist party dodge this black history now .
any movie portray bloody cultural revolution are not allowed .

    Have you read the book?
    • He does describe "Chinese killing each other without any trial, just in the name of Mao."
    • It has a vivid scene of a mob killing a scientist, leading us to believe it was common.
    • It's also explained that many "educated people are detained." The book explains how the young students largely wiped out their elder professors ("intelligentsia," we say), or those professors had to bend a knee to Mao.
I suspected that happened well before the '60s (like Stalin). Was surprised how recent.

Did the English translation by Ken Liu add something that Liu Cixin did not include?

Question: Regardless, would you say other *popular* books or movies in China "portray the true evil" more than Liu does?

fwiw: Amazon bought the movie/TV rights to this trilogy for US $1 billion

Sarcasm is one of the best things in a democracy and in communism, may be you should try that.

OK thanks for telling me Liu didn't get criticized.

Sounds like the Chinese Government now allows fiction novels and movies to portray the evil of the 1960s and '70s. Liu certainly did.

I think it is safe to say that Stalin and Mao would never have allowed such a book. Sounds like Chinese Govt has loosened up on freedom of art expression for that Era.

Where do you live in China?

My father in law (American from Virginia) has lived in Nan Jing for about 10 years, and he said that at least part of the issue is that citizens in Hong Kong tend to treat mainland Chinese poorly.

    Has this been your experience?
