    https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...r-had-tense-meeting-lakers-nets-players-china

“During the meeting with the players, sources said, Silver was directly asked whether anything would happen to Morey, as several players said they believed that if a player had cost the NBA millions of dollars because of a tweet, there would be repercussions.”

When will this slander against the demigod that is Morey stop?

The players are really trying to create a whole new PR nightmare for themselves.

Fire him already. One lame duck gm paired with another lame duck coach.

The players are right. Had it been one of them you know what would've happened. Exiled, prosecuted, and fined.

Truth is the players and Morey should stick to basketball.

What exactly would the repercussions be for a player speaking out against China? Say the situation was reversed and Rajon Rondo said the same thing Morey did (I know far fetched). The Lakers nor the NBA have any recourse to discipline that player unless there are rules in place regarding social media for players? They would not cut him either.

It’s not about millions of dollars though, you can’t suppress free speech. Lebron and company protested police brutality they weren’t punished.

it’s only an issue when your bad mouthing the nba, your organization and etc etc. that would be like talking crap about my job in front of my boss not a good look but this wasn't the case for morey.

plus if Lebron really said this just shows how much he cares about greed, money and putting a foot in his mouth when it comes to supporting Nobel causes and concerns.

The salary cap is projected to decrease 10-15% due to the China fallout, the players absolutely have a right to be upset.

"Morey will not face any league discipline for the tweet."

That's all that needs to be said.

Didn't Durant cost Under Armor a ton of money or something.

    Can't recall specifics.

Morey probably had a small population of followers and was only known to very dedicated NBA fans.
He’s not Steph or LeBron or Harden
Even Adam Silver can walk around a store and nobody would know who he is.
The government over there made it big .
Same with Winnie the Pooh, some people make some stupid meme with a kid’s cartoon character and it gets banned
Guess what? They made people who didn’t even know what’s going on in Hong Kong interested in knowing

Their social media monitors can’t assess the threat correctly . Should have let Morey alone and nobody would remember the tweet.

They turned dork Elvis into well known as Elvis!

It's like they completely missed what Silver said about not regulating what NBA employees say. No one should forced to shut up and dribble, but they want Morey punished. Okay...

They won't throw LEBRON JAMES under the bus. Obviously he was the only player that said anything to Silver.

These guys going to feel crappy when everyone understands that China has camps where they put people because of their ethnicity.

If they are mad because they didn't want to be put in the middle of this, then fine, but for them to attack Morey...BS.

I have no doubt it is Lebron who already doesn't like Morey anyway.

Yeah but that tweet probably made the NBA money and good publicity for the people who care about the NBA, which tends to be younger and more racially diverse audience.

Essentially the idea is that if you're gonna have a political opinion, make sure it's the CORRECT political opinion. Morey's issue was that his opinion was a bad one for players.

actually, morey was having to reply back to and coddle swarms of chinese followers on twitter/insta. what if this was just his roundabout way of losing them in order to save 10min out of his busy day? :D
