For some reason, Americans keep listening to celebrities.

The hypocrisy around China shows that the moral high ground is pointless in America.

Whether it's Steve Kerr, Joe Tsai, Greg Popovich, Stephen Curry or James Harden, Rihanna twerking in Saudi Arabia and marrying they princes, athletes and entertainers alike, they'll beg and grovel and dance in circles for a country that stands for all the wrong things as long as it lines their pockets, and take shots at America whenver possible because they know it will line their pockets as well.

Morality does not exist amongst celebrities... stop looking for it or pretending it does!! They go with the biggest paycheck and make up a story to keep you guys happy. Money gets you food and shelter but once it rules you after that, you a damn fool!

Im not sure what country OP has been living in. Individual rights are protected, until the rich and greedy decide otherwise.

Self awareness certainly lacks in this country. No matter how one wants to twist it, we are on the opposite side of the same coin when it comes to China.

The problem isn't that we're listening to celebrities, it's that we elected one.

lol. repulbicans have now twice elected celebrities to be president. you dorks voted for and constantly defend a sleazy reality tv show star with decades of history as a con-artist and pathological liar.

also, i find it ironic that trump suck-ups would be talking about "morals". what a joke!

America has a "go big or go home" mentality. Often it works out very well. But the draw back is that often you don't have to go big and it's somehow seen as a sign of weakness if you don't. Worse, if you don't go big, you are discouraged from going at all. So it creates this all or nothing mentality that I think is uniquely American. In politics this translates to everything has to be either true or false and things can't be in the middle.

Take drugs for example. Here is a list of known mind altering substances:
    Alcohol
    Cocaine
    Caffeine
    Nicotine

As a society, either it's totally legal with little to no regulation or it's completely outlawed. Not much middle ground.

The problem with go big or go home mentality is sometimes when we go big, somebody extrapolates and simplifies the nature of the problem and America adopts this new "thing". Unfortunately, we often get the essence of that new thing all wrong cause we just don't do subtle very well. Take Starbucks. I know it's sacrilegious for sooo many but to Starbucks credit, they realized Folgers coffee was crap. Europe had a strong espresso culture that didn't exist here so they took espresso coffee and morphed the latte into an atrocity closer to a milkshake. It's marketing genius and worked out well. Or even McDonalds. As hamburgers go, they suck. It took us decades but we now are starting to realize a hamburger can be sooooo much more.

Trump has capitalized on this personality quirk of ours. His made for TV personality boils everything down go big or go home. It's either my way (true) or you are an enemy (false). He just manipulates the public because he inherently knows our twitter minds only operate in absolutes.

Maybe if the Republicans would stop cutting education funding and we put civics class back into schools so kids and people know their rights.......

It's a long standing political tactic through history that if you keep the populace bamboozled (ie uneducated), then you can influence people based on emotions rather than facts. Facts are hard to defend so best to discredit the source of facts and/or avoid the facts altogether.

A lot of them were about a quarter century ahead of government leaders, educators in flyover states, conservative press, small business owners, literally anyone and everyone involved in real estate or banking - and society at large - on racial and social tolerance, maybe three quarters of a century if we count stragglers like you.

It's not just education funding, it's the entire system of education altogether. I think it makes kids wired to play the system, but not to actually think for themselves, and it's a part of the problem.
If you look at alot of people who consider themselves "informed" or "woke" on politics, they are the biggest puppets of all. Very easy to manipulate the far left and right, because they have been drilled into seeing things from a certain narrative.

    Homeboy,
I am not a republican and if that's your only way to insult me to avoid looking in the mirror, just like Steve Kerr, then you are ignorant and a slave to the money of others.

I don't know why you made it so hard to read... but with America, we got away with a lot of stuff in the 20th century we cannot now because globalization has taken away the thriving middle class. So now it's angry people getting forcefed news. Obama's own mediocrity kind of exploded in the face of democrats and it alloewd a tyrant liek trump to come in and pretend like he would drain the swamp which would make things better economically... but his entire strategy is short term profits.

I think we'll get to a point ...hopefully, where we just want a smart, boring leader we haven't had in decades.

I grew up poor, but in the 60s and 70s adults were smart enough to call people out on their bs. intelligence was still valued. Past couple of decades shows it clearly intimidates the far left and the far right think it involves being incompetent and from money like trump and bush. Smart and boring like Warren is what the US needs ... but the media won't allow it.
