brief translation: we noticed Silver's statement that NBA supports DM'S right to speak freely, we, however, do not believe any issues concerning territorial integrity fall into the range of freedom of speech. therefore, temporary ban on all NBA live broadcasting until further development.

What part of free speech do they not understand? This could end up hurting China more than the NBA.

Morey really cost the NBA China. I guess at some point the political ideologies were going to collide.

Guys, we should be thankful that David Stern isn’t in charge. This was his ultimate dream and would have held a grudge against the Rockets forever.

    of course they don't.

    Another difference.
We believe human rights exist and they don't.

    Good riddance.

It was bound to happen sooner or later because not everyone can remain silent and tow in the company line of approving attrocities.

Especially since the league is encouraging their people to speak about social issues.

VPN subscriptions about to skyrocket in China lol. Or they’ll use Tencent, if they don’t also stop broadcasting.

It's at the point now where the League can't afford to take that hit domestically. He might have the most secure front office job in the NBA now.

They can’t fire him now. It would be a PR disaster domestically.

This is in response to Adam Silver's statement, simply saying he defends Morey's right to free speech.

It's good that the force of this is now being shared by the league, not just one man. Hopefully now every other NBA team (other than Brooklyn) and the League Office will see that simply saying free speech is good will get you banned in China.

This will effect everything. League revenue - salary cap going down - players being paid less etc. So many brands intertwined too with guys like James being with Adidas. Hopefully all these massive corporations realise they have played with fire long enough and a simple apology isn't enough to appease a despot government. It might force them to stick together rather than grovelling.

By pulling the preseason games, China is waiting to see if the NBA condemns Morey for his support of Hong Kong.

That will not happen. After it is made clear that the NBA will do nothing to Morey.

They will black out the NBA.
