The reason I start this thread is that it has been a couple of months I continue to think Morey offer too much for Westbrook. This is one person's opinion: Chris Paul is 60 million overpaid on his 3-year contract remaining. When is 36-37 years old, he is not worth 46 million a year.. Westbrook is 50 million overpaid on his 4-year contract remaining. He is only worth 30 million a year. Shooting accuracy is the most important thing in basketball. The difference between 60M and 50M is 1 First swap. Paul for Westbrook. What should be a fair deal? Actual deal: Thunder traded All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Chris Paul, 2 first-round picks in 2024 and 2026 and 2 First pick swaps in 2021 and 2025.
Comparing to Paul George deal, that is how to make trade? Clippers offer 6 Firsts for George and Kawhi. George and Kwahi make $32 million each this year. Westbrook get about 3 Firsts, sound about right. When Westbrook make 46 million, other starters will get pay cut.
I think it's a fair deal. Both players have issues. There wasn't a big market for CP3. He's not an all star anymore. He's injury prone. He's old AF. He's vastly overpaid. Westbrook is younger but flawed. He's an inefficient stat w****. The Rockets think they can fix that through and I believe they will. CP3 was the more flawed player so it's only fair to throw in some picks. If we get a championship out of the deal it will all be worth it. We damn sure didn't need to "run it back" again another 3 years.
The trade shows that the rockets are putting more trust in their g-league minor league system than lottery picks. Look at how they underpaid austin rivers !
There is NO deal on earth that would make the Rockets trade Westbrook for Paul. Baaically the trade would have to be OKC get Westbrook plus Nene and all filler crap coblntracts Rox get Paul plus superstar Superstar is organised by OKC by using dozens of 1s rd picks. Basically it can't happen. Chris Paul is an albatross contract that requires 4 firsts just to dump. Having a legitimate superstar demand to be traded TO Houston was the only way we could escape. Perhaps OKC could get lucky and trade Paul to Miami mid season? In that kind of deal they might possibly get a first as well? But they wouldn't be getting fair taleny compensation for $40mill, just salary relief.
I don't want Paul back. He misses too many games and that could likely happen in the playoffs as well. I'd take Westbrook over a star bench warmer.
It was our only way out. Paul couldn't even drive by Kevin Looney and the rest of the warriors bench squad. Russ has his issues but we are still a work in progress..he's more than a willing passer but just doesn't have the ppl to pass to right now who can shoot or run the break with him.
So sad when someone bumps their own crap thread.... 95% of his threads could have been simple posts in ither threads. Years and years down the track and jopat still wasting everyones time
