I understand doing this was necessary to get national TV games but is the exposure worth it when the team can't put four quality quarters together because of lack of rest/practice ? Hope they never play 4 games in 18 days again.

King knows this team is going to torpedo is draft stock. He wants to get drafted, and that isn't going to happen with this squad. But wow, given that he ate up all the Spring and Summer reps with the 1st unit, this is a total dick move. I get he's "doing what is best for him", but he should have made this decision months ago. To do this now is a real abdication of responsibility and shows very poor character. And this is coming from a guy who normally supports athletes' autonomy.
Yeah, that's a hard pass. You can't entertain having King back. Clean out his locker, tell anybody else that the door is right there if they want out, and move on. It's time to start building for 2020. That work begins immediately.
Because of the four game redshirt rule, the completion of four games is now a major milestone in college football. This isn't random. King is leaving because UH has one of the most porous offensive lines in the country. He's probably worried about getting seriously hurt. Now he'll probably transfer to OU and win the Heisman.
