Black's in Lockhart. There's another in Austin proper, near the campus. On Guadalupe.

nothing wrong with Lamberts; the wild boar ribs are money.

La Barbecue and Micklethwait still has meat until late afternoon and they are both excellent. I personally think La is the best in town.

I keep seeing Tejas BBQ on the list. What's everyone's take?

Kam, Blacks on Guadalupe had bbq available for dinner on the recent labor day sunday when I went. I think it's a pretty safe bet. Prices are pretty reasonable there. Get a sausage link!

I have half a mind to meet you there incognito or otherwise. It sounds good right now. Pretty good joint, hardworking staff.

I like Lamberts. Just not your typical bbq experience.

Try Terry Blacks. the food is outstanding, and they will definitely have enough whatever time you get there.

You could stop off in Brenham on the way Truth, LJ's, and Nathan's.

This will be going on 9/21 in Dallas for anybody that wants to check it out. Lots of good BBQ places on that list. Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to attend, but then I'd almost rather go to the individual BBQ joints, to be honest :

We checked out Brett's BBQ in/around Katy on Mason and Kingsland. Saw them in Texas Monthly and figured we'd check it out. The brisket was very good and the pork ribs were well seasoned but average otherwise, not as tender as I would have liked. The place is kind of a dive so probably best to get your food to go. For the sides we had some potato salad but it had horseradish in it so couldn't recommend it.

Didn't mean to be ****ing with you earlier or anything, but damn, I'm sorry about that.

I do remember 30 or so years ago my grandad and I stopped at Cooper's in Llano for lunch on like a Tuesday on our way to or from San Saba. We look at the pit, Luke picks a sirloin, I get a pork chop plus ribs to share...we're eating later and he tries the chop...looks at me, gets up, walks back over to the pit and genteelly asks "Which one of yall salts this meat?" "Well, sir, we kind of all do." "Yeah, it sure ****ing tastes like it."

    I miss that old guy.

Got my flights booked early February for a Texas roadtrip.

    5 weeks all up.

Only thing on my list is:

    - Rockets vs Clippers game towards the backend of my trip

    - Some nights in Austin at 6th Street

    - A couple of nights probably one at the start another at the end at Billy Bobs - since i'm flying in/out of DFW.

The rest is nothing but exploring Texas and eating as much bbq as possible.

And finding a wife, but that's secondary to brisket.
