Why would you have much desire to watch Greece in the first place?
There is only one NBA player (and his brother who will come to the NBA through the back door) and the team doesn't play fast, shoot much or has many highlights.

    Yes.
Every european nation has their own basketball school that determines their style of play over the years.
For example the Lithuanians no matter what, you know they are good shooters.
The Croatians you know they always have failed to teach their players how to be clutch - it is the suicide school of basketball etc.

Greece's identity has always been defence, guard play and fundamentals. That's what kids are being taught in the youth clubs.
If you can't defend or you are selfish and try to iso instead of passing and be a team player your butt is immediately sit on the bench.
Shooting? Very little time is devoted to shooting and more like warmup.

Though Calathes is the only national team player who is an american product.
It's our bad luck that he fits so well with the national bball identity not being able to shoot the wide side of a barn lol.

I am certain if Giannis for example instead of being born here, his parents went a little to the north and he was taught bball from the slavs, he would be right now a much better shooter. (Though his playmaking would perhaps suffer in comparison).

Hopefully with the Warriors effect, the coaches will have woken up to the importance of teaching shooting from a young ages and kids will put more time into that so the future generations will be more competent.

I just type in World Cup Basketball into google and they have the scores, upcoming matches, standings and YouTube game recaps all in one nice neat package.

How much are team USA players paid for the tournament? Are they even paid for participating? If they can be paid they just just dish out a few mil to get 1 or 2 superstars and we'd be winning easily.

Still love Giannis, wanted Rockets to draft him.

Would welcome him to Houston anytime but he really was not 2019 MVP.

In any event, the trade for Iggy better include Bruno. Kid is clutch.

I like the FIBA WC website. It has up to minute PnP and Boxscores and they are the originator of the YouTube highlights “all in one nice neat package.”

Seriously, What appears in Google Top results have crappy Live box scores, in comparison. They don’t stay close to live.

Same reason I want to watch any of the world cup games featuring lower-ranked teams - basketball is cool and good and seeing different styles of play is fascinating

lulz, Popovich's team just shot 41 3s. That's more than 1 per minute....a rate that is almost a 50 attempts game for 48 minutes ... mindboggling numbers for a Pops/Spurs team.

In these 40 minute FIBA games, USA is waaay out front shooting 35.7 3FG/gm, which is a 43 3FG/gm rate per 48 minutes. That is Rockets rate.

Looks like we are going to face zones and have to make our 3s. So, Popovich's stated "#1 priority" and our USA identity really needs to step up....suffocating USA defense!!

Pop is at peace with all the threes because since the FIBA line is a step in at the top compared to an NBA 3 they are really just chucking up a bunch of long 2s lol

Defense's FIBA rules are way worse for a guy that can't shoot. No defensive 3 seconds is death for a guy like Giannis. Especially if he doesn't have 4 shooters around him like in Milwaukee.

Yeah he's a system guy, but one worth building system around.
