17 plus is a lot of money to give a guy on the other side of 30. Especially when he's played 68 and 69 games the last two years. But, if he plays like the stud he was in March and April (And he'd better be having fun now...), it's worth it. He killed it offensively in those two months. Nice of the Rockets to reward that. I didn't think they'd do it. Really surprised. I guess that means this is it, guys. Other than vet minimum lottery tickets, this is your 2019-20 Houston Rockets club. Though Daryl has surprised in the past.... I'd say the tax will be inescapable in 2020 and beyond, although this extension still doesn't put them into the tax then as currently projected. Great news. Still doesn't mean a bag should be going to Tucker, but hey, I didn't think Gordon would get extended either. In fact, I'm still surprised he wasn't traded. Guess there wasn't enough of a market for him. Still, great news.
I like the deal. The moment we traded for Westbrook, Gordon’s value on the team skyrocketed. This team desperately needs shooting; both in volume and in efficiency and Gordon is a known quality in both aspects. Sure, he is a bit too streaky for my liking from deep but when he is on, our offense becomes video game like with the sliders all the way set to 100. He also provides the Rockets a good 2nd option off Harden/Westbrook and is pretty underrated defensively. (He was fantastic against Mitchell and held his own vs the Spash Bros the past couple of playoffs). Keeping him for under $20M/year is a good get especially with the 4th year non-guarantee. Now extend Tucker to a 3/39M or 4/52M with the 4th year non guaranteed unless we win the championship or he gets 1st team All-Defense, and let’s goooooo.
ehhh... I call it a reasonable contract... other side of 30 w some injury history - but not crazy money... Its all about the ability to circumvent the cap... gotta extend the guys we got - bc we wont have the space/ability to replace them in free agency... thats the only reason Shump is still in play... Reasonable deal for all concerned...
Anybody who has any doubts about this deal, just wait for playoff Gordon. This man turns into Jesus Christ during the post season.
With the 4th year NG, this is a great deal to me. I still think the 3rd year is a risk, but this is the time to take risks because we're all in for the next few seasons. This is exactly what we've been wanting our owner to do. Let's hope this is the beginning of a trend and he isn't gonna ask Morey to move heaven and earth to keep us under the cap again this season.

Still less than Ryan Anderson and I can guarantee you barring a horrific injury a 34 year old EGo will provide more than Ryno ever could.
