Pro bowl LT would be the 2nd most important position on the field.
Problem is we're not talking about one (pro bowl) in Tunsil.
He has "potential" but you know what Parcell's said about potential.

Clowney is more accomplished at the "3rd" most important position on the field, de/lb or "the guy that goes and gets the qb".
I know 9.5 is his high sack total but he is elite at run stopping.
I think his greater value (relative to his peers) at his position more than offsets the slightly higher importance LT has on DE/LB.

Now the fact that Tunsil has more years of cheaper control left offsets the gain Clowney had by being more accomplished at his position.

But now that the trade talks are out in the open it makes it awkward for the dolphins and Tunsil as well, so they have incentive to get this done.
I say straight up swap or we give them a day 3 pick and get 1 of their lower rb's/wr's.

Trade Clowney for picks and Tunsil. Then flip those picks for Trent Williams

    Fair enough

I will pass on bland food.

    Give me aggressive risk takers.

So we trade J.D. for both Tunsil AND Trent Williams?
    Sounds good to me.
Wonder if Mia. will be on board with it though?
Maybe they will let us 3 vote on it (me, you, dolphins) and majority rules.
    Would sure be nice!

Only problem is who plays LT and who plays elsewhere?
I guess 1 would have to move to RT.
Learn some versatility, make them more valuable to the team (& BOB).
Possibly even some st as well?
    Fun guys!
    Great to coach (Brian).

Texans getting worked over by the Dolphins. The Dolphins are going to use our 1st next year to draft a better OT than Tunsil and have Clowney and a 2nd to boot.

Clowney and a 1st, i will even thrown in a 2nd round pick. Texans drafting under BoB pretty awful, might as well trade it in for someone thats a proven commodity. Protecting watson = numero 1 priority.

So who do you guys think leaked the latest rumor? The Texans FO because they're frustrated that Miami won't take a deal? Or Miami trying to save face with their fans that they're trying to extort as much possible in a deal (when last week it was leaked that Tunsil was not being traded)?

Either way, I think the NFL hot stove league is the weakest of all pro leagues. No real insiders (even Schefter/Rappaport are just well connected, but they only hear sure things after its completely done), the NFL media is the weakest in terms of reporting on every single possible leak (and they're certainly the most manipulated... John McClain still getting manipulated/used since day one of the Texans).

In the end, Clowney starts losing game checks soon.

This is terrible. Absolutely terrible. I wouldn't trade a 1st without Clowney for Tunsil. Why does the front office suck so much at negotiating?

They were poor under the Godfather, better under Gaine, let's see how BOB does.

Agreed about protecting Watson being the top priority.

You are trading a guy who has made multiple pro bowls and was an all pro who is about the same age (25 vs 26) + 1st round pick for Tunsil. Tunsil hasn't made any pro bowl. It seems like an overpay for me.

BOB was mediocre coach at duke, penn state, and the Texans yet he keeps getting better jobs and more power. The reasons the Texans have been is the defense.

It was all of Miami’s guys coming out with that info.

It seemed to me that Miami is prepping the fan base for that trade.

Tunsil gave up one sack last year which was even debatable if it was his fault.

This is Watson’s blindside the rest of his career. Clowney and a first for Tunsil is a freaking steal.

Drake, Parker, Tunsil, a 3rd rounder and marc Anthony for Clowney and a first rounder. Take it or leave it, Miami.

Can't believe it got to this point. Actually, I can.

Clowney really needs to hire an agent or somebody in his circle needs to advise him to sign the tender and go to Miami.

I’m not just saying that so this thing gets done soon but also because lots of things will go for Clowney if he just accepts the tag and go to Miami.

#1. MONEY he will get the massive deal he wants
#2. He will get something in Miami he never got here....and that’s to be the face of the franchise if not at least the face of the defense. He never got that here and never will get it as long as we have Watt.
#3. A legit chance to be the focal point for the team. He has absolutely been overshadowed here as far being key piece for the team as far as publicity.

If Clowney gets the right representation he can really spin the whole going to Miami situation in his favor.

We better get back Stills or some other player on top of Tunsil if we’re giving up picks along without Clowney.
