Morey finds out whether this team will work.

I don't think we should extend Gordon, PJ anyone.....until we find out if this works, if not, they are valuable expiring contracts.

I know they WANT extensions but IMHO, it would not be prudent.

    NO SOUP FOR YOU !!

Tillman is cheap he's not giving them contracts before their contract is up.

But these guys will play with less motivation. They are skilled but lack the length to really get the job done at times....

A contract year should motivate the hell out of them, that's basically for every player.

I suspect your logic is a wee flawed.

For ex: when did 'we' find out last year's squad was working?
For ex: in this new age of shorter contracts expirings hold significantly less value than earlier CBAs. Greater value? 2-3 years on 'affordable' terms.
For ex: contract extensions can often be negotiated for 'common grounds principles' thus saving having to match blown-up offers.
For ex: there are fewer teams w/$$$ next summer but also few guys worthy of getting paid.

Unless there is an EGo deal that DM the GM is trying to close prudence equates to extending EGo & PJ (and, ulp, finding the right contract for Shump???) by season's tip-off.

Yes sir, that’s a Morey given.

And D’Antoni is on thin ice. That’s a given as well.

Maybe we could stop acting like mini GMs for like a minute. Lets just see what happens this season. The way you guys talk about people's contracts kinda leaves a sour taste.

    "Assets" sheesh.

Dantoni is on thin ice for a roster problem that Tilman caused last year?

Weren’t you an anti can kicker?! Are you suggesting that we treat them like ..... assets?

I could be wrong but I thought you were a big critic of this approach. I’m not agreeing or disagreeing I just found it ironic.

No he is on then ice because all the talent that was being developed was used for trades so our team is old and brittle less one or two key players.

The wise move would be to not extend... but then there's the hr aspect...

Are we potentially gonna flush a season with a disgruntled EGO who feels unappreciated? Is PJ gonna play it safe and not work so hard bc he is worrying about staying healthy for his next contract?

Things are not as simple as basic financial equations... its about keeping guys happy and productive...

and of course, thats all assuming these guys will then gladly re-sign with us if their contract is left to expire - or they walk away and we got nothing - and no space to sign someone new..

Word on da street is, Tilman is offering EG and PJ some one those hot Popeye Fried Chicken sandwich, for a limited time only, if they re-up for the minimum, on an installment pay.
