I agree with a lot of your points, Tucker certainly deserves to be rewarded, and in a perfect world would be, but I suspect Morey's already promised a hefty raise to Rivers in exchange for structuring his deal to take the near minimum this year. A GM cannot go back on his promises and still be an effective GM, which is why Paul was always going to get his money once he agreed to be traded to Houston.

I just don't see the money to do both, and they don't NEED to take care of Tucker this year. If Tucker wants to play basketball in 2019-20, he's doing it for 8.5 million or so, and he's doing it for the Rockets. Period.

I guess he can always retire.

Well whos decision was that? Im sorry but there is no way you can convince me someone who was an UFA is underpaid... He had the chance to sign wherever he wanted and he chose to sign here for 4 years not 2. Maybe guys on thier rookie deals can be underpaid but not guys that had a chance to test the market.

He made his bed now he's gotta lie in it... There is no chance im extending anybody on this team. As far as im concerned if we dont win the ship in these next two years its time to tear it down regardless.

I wouldnt mind extending him for one extra year at his current rate. Does that count as an extension?

Yea and refuses to touch it!

Honestly if he stepped his scoring up he be worth it, in 2 years when hes a UFA, hes gonna be gone, at 37? what is he now 34? He overrates his self, he is paid for 7-8 mil for defense.

Who says it doesn't make sense for him to want an extension?
    Everyone should!

It makes no sense for the Rockets to offer him one....

Makes plenty of sense to make that last year fully guaranteed and another year or two. But for LTS nah. Same goes for anyone else looking for any extensions. Go LTS!!

Umm you realize that Rivers was cut last year right? Hes lucky he got on this team and played decent enough to be asked back. He's one bad season from being out of the league.

Ummm how convenient you disregard the multiple mle offers he turned down. That sure doesn’t sound like someone who’s one bad season from being out the league. And he had no short list of suitors once he became part of the market, which included the then defending champs. Quit making stuff up. More like the rockets are lucky he decided to help with LTS and be underpaid. What you described is faried not Rivers.

Who the heck was offering Rivers the MLE? Sounds like your making stuff up... He had no trade value last year and has none today. If he was offered more money he should have taken it cause he aint ever getting it back.

Some of you guys really overrate guys once they put on our uniform.

Try to keep up. Nvm the fact that he’s acknowledged turning down more money on several occasions. And people like you try to speak without doing any actual research and use your personal guesses as facts. Another post entirely filled with nothing but a baseless logic

Makes sense to give a guy an extra year when he is turning 37?!?

    Why?

Sadly yeah, maybe 2 years away from being out of the league due to his dad still giving him a chance.

He got lucky that his skillset was what was needed on the Rockets last season and CP3 was in and out.

My guess is we will give Tucker that last year guaranteed or nothing. Tilman wants results first, then he might be willing to keep this team together. I'd say anything short of a Finals appearance will make our team look drastically different next year, with possibly Gordon already traded if Morey feels like it mid-season. Tucker, Rivers & Gordon are all seeking paydays so outside of Harden, Westbrook, Capela & House, there's lots of turnover to be expected unless we win it all.

The NBA is truly a players league. Superstars dictate to their teams where they want to play. They get max contracts for being an all star is a mid market city. They call the shots.

But now the role players are starting to gain that type of leverage.

Tucker plays with heart, but he is a lot easier to replace than a Westbrook or Harden.

You don't give a 35 year old hustle player a big long term deal.

    Even if he is important.

I don't like it either, but it probably is not a good idea to piss him off either. We don't exactly have any other options, especially with Tilman pinching pennies.
