A possibility is to bring Toro up to play 3rd and slide Bregman to SS. If Correa is out long term I would not be surprised to see Toro up in September.

With Correa, unfortunately it’s looking like his back discomfort is a chronic condition.

So how do you keep him on the field? What’s the best treatment for his back going forward during a 162 game season?

“He and the team confronted almost the same situation last October.

Correa batted .180 in the second half of the 2018 season, interrupted by his torn thumb ligament. Then, Houston swept the Cleveland Indians in the American League Division Series, when Correa had one hit (a homer) in 10 at-bats and could not swing without pain shooting through him. Before heading to Boston for the Championship Series, he confessed to pretending like he was fine while gritting through discomfort so disruptive that he did not expect to fix his swing path.


The physical pain led to the psychological. He had to baby his swing because he was so afraid of the agony that rushed in whenever he swung and missed.

The problem spread. His obliques started to hurt. He tried avoiding everything that stressed his back. He used a foam roller and took anti-inflammatories, but those did not sound like the kind of treatments he said he sought 24/7, which still did not quiet the barking. In his most insecure moments, he would confide in his then-fiancée Daniella Rodriguez about his disappointing performance.


He sounded bleak, almost hopeless, but Correa managed to hit his way out of it against the Red Sox. He was not powerful. He lacked the extra-base pop in his swing, but only he and George Springer batted over .300 in the series. The rest of the lineup, including José Altuve playing with a busted knee, was at fault for Houston falling in five games. Correa went 6 for 19 (.316) with a double.

At this point in August, Correa appears to be a sunk cost for the regular season, which the Astros have just about sealed for another AL West Division title. The team does not need Correa's best now and likely will not need it in six weeks if the hitters around him continue to be reliable.”

Ugh, i feel so negative about the situation but yeah... let's see what happens. The schedule is for sure in the Astros favor at the moment. Maybe if Diaz can get healthy, he can be solid.

 

Fvking ridiculous.

 

You feel bad for Correa bc he’s such a talent but f*** man attendance is half the grade... the guy simply can’t stay healthy long enough to be depended on. It’d be one thing if these were contact related but he gets injured just walking around.

What really sucks is that we’ll miss him at the plate but almost as much as in the field. He has an absolute cannon of an arm.

Here’s hoping one of our stud infielders can slide in.

 

Also as well, if he's able to come back....will he regress back to 2018 post-back injury Correa where he sucked ass at the plate?

Death, taxes and something bothering Correa.

 

I just hope Correa finds other solutions to heal his back besides a "massage"

 

Correa needs to see McGrady's witch doctor near Waco that fixed his back issues a while back.

 

At this point, I wouldn't mind if this winter, we put Correa in a trade for a TOR.

 

I hate to say it but we need to move on from Correa. This is the third straight season where he has missed significant time and his back issues are a huge concern. I'm not sure what we could get for him but we can't keep a player who can't stay healthy.
