When someone cuts you off or offend your driving ettiquette ideals . . What do you do? 1. Honk the Horn 2. Flash the high beams 3. Speed up and cut them off 4. Something worse 5. Shrug it off and let it go. Rocket River
I usually hit the high beams. . . .and then let it go I forgot to add YELL AND SCREAM to the poll Rocket River
If they're close enough to hit me...honk If they're just driving like an ass...flash brights (at night) Always: let them get ahead and go on, so I know where the ******* is
Don't think the horn accomplishes anything at that point. You are just going to piss someone off and make them less focused and more dangerous, or more frazzled. Or psycho. Everyone generally reacts to being honked at pretty poorly, and my guess is only like 5% of them will be like, oops, my bad, I need to learn from that. So there's little to no good being done unless you wake up a drunk driver. The idea of the honk is to avoid a collision.
Nothing or honk. Depends. I typically just get out of the way if I have kids in my car. Don't want to risk setting off some beta male psychopath. Not worth it.
Typically call them a female expletive and honk the horn. One thing I NEVER allow is letting a cutter cut in front of me. My hugest pet peeve when I'm driving. They are completely unaware that it is THEM who create gridlock and traffic jams.
I'm a honker and a bird flipper. Most of my honks occur when a red light turns green and the person in front of me is looking down at their phone. This has seriously become a problem these days. So much distracted driving. The bird comes out usually when I hit my signal and am trying to change lanes when the person intentionally speeds up to block me from getting in front of them. Also happens a lot. FU man.
What did I do? In my 20's I would get out of my car if the transgression was bad enough. What do I do NOW? I honk at worst.... I was stupid in my 20's and would rather not have my head blown off.
Oh, so if you have your gun with you, you will honk. But, if you don't have your gun, you choose not to escalate the situation. This is how people end up shooting at each other. Two guys with guns.
I remember one time i accidentally cut someone off. He honked, I apologized but he proceeded to follow me for 2 miles angry pointing to pull over to a parking lot. That situation scared the **** out of my 24 year old self. I carry 90% of the time now unless I'm planning on having a drink or possibly leaving my car somewhere overnight. I'm not an overly emotional person and I honk for precaution not for anger. I honk when people are swerving into my lane or when someone isn't moving at a green light. My gun is like my jack and spare tire. I don't want to use it. It's not for decoration. It's there for emergencies.
Yes actual road ragers, I give them no reaction. Not even a look, disapproving or otherwise. Once they're all frothed up, everything only feeds their rage... even an apologetic wave! Have to kind of let them devolve through their endgame, which seems to be racing past then immediately stopping in front of each other. Also, you'll find the more you just act like you're having no reaction out there, the more it feels, a minor/temporary inconvenience than an opposing entity, with a face or slightly too tall spoiler, worthy of hate.
On the bright side, think most honks are taken home and well into the next day. You are definitely getting under someone's skin when you do it.
