I would be very pissed off if I was american.
You want to stay home and prepare for next season? Then say it and leave before there's only a day left in home soil, and you have wasted everyone's time and your coach plans. You can quit without screwing your country over.

Also this has become embarassing now.
One thing for old established stars to not be interested, but young up and comers of teams that barely have a chance to even make the playoffs aren't interested anymore?

Maybe, just maybe Pops has given them the courtesy to use any code word for being cut from the team? They only need 12 after all. Am referring to the up and comers.

If the US ends up losing, does that jeopardize the Olympics?

    Good question...

So yeah, if they play terribly, basically finish behind 2 other Americas team, they will have to play in a qualifying tournament...if they are the 16 of best remaining teams. This could be troublesome if they have to play in a tourney to qualify because who knows who will show up for that. That would be the big fear because as we've seen it's not been easy getting the best players to play basketball during their offseason.

Also, that tourney starts right after the finals, the qualifying for the Olympics, so it's really not favorable to the NBA schedule.

But simply losing, placing 2nd or 3rd, likely still gets them in the tourney unless the 2nd and first place teams are Canada and Argentina or something.

I don't believe it. It was between White, Harris and an injured Smart not Fox who by all accounts had been impressive.

Worst team to represent America to date while the competition always gets better every turn. Will this team even win gold?

The chinese fans are acting like they have never watched a bball game before.

I had the fiba stream of Jordan- Greece in the background and kept hearing all loud ooohhh and ahhh I was like wtf is going on in that game?
    Is it that exciting?
Turns out they were cheering someone dribbling the ball.

At a dunk the cheering was louder than a goal in a football match.

    Ah, the gentleman's cut.

Still easily the most talented team in the competition, but I see we've hit the disinterest part of the cycle. An upset certainly feels like it's looming.

These competitions only make the headlines if we get beat

Lol this team sucks. Wouldn't be surprised if they don't finish top 3.
