ABC News could not find a single criminal case filed in federal or state court where an act of violence or threat was made in the name of President Barack Obama or President George W. Bush. The 36 cases identified by ABC News are remarkable in that a link to the president is captured in court documents and police statements, under the penalty of perjury or contempt.
Sounds like you’re going crazy having to bend over backwards to defend it. Or your inner shitty racism is just tearing itself
Two threads to try to call me out for racism even though I'm not demonstrating any actual racism. Nice. Stick to this one for the remainder of our conversation which will end with the following part of this post: You're projecting your racism onto me because I'm actually not into identity politics. But nice try. It's like those people who hate on gay people, always turn out to be repressed homosexuals. Well, that's you.
The media isn't completely innocent and a by-standard. One, they are the medium where the people can hear the voice and expression of Trump. Two, at least one of the incident reference one of them. As you read through each of these cases, you can see that each of them were likely already on the verge. Some of them were suffering from mental illness. Would they have proceeded from feelings to actions without the powerful and motivating words of the POTUS? Probably not. Feb. 15, 2019: The FBI in Maryland arrested a Marine veteran and U.S. Coast Guard lieutenant, Christopher Paul Hasson, who they said was stockpiling weapons and "espoused" racist and anti-immigrant views for years as he sought to "murder innocent civilians on a scale rarely seen in this country." In court documents, prosecutors said the 49-year-old "domestic terrorist" compiled a "hit list" of prominent Democrats. Two months later, while seeking Hasson's release from jail before trial, his public defender, Elizabeth Oyer, told a federal judge: "This looks like the sort of list that our commander-in-chief might have compiled while watching Fox News in the morning. … Is it legitimately frustrating that offensive language and ideology has now become part of our national vocabulary? Yes, it is very frustrating. But … it is hard to differentiate it from the random musings of someone like Donald Trump who uses similar epithets in his everyday language and tweets." Hasson faces weapons-related charges and was being detained as he awaits trial. He has pleadednot guilty.
I didn't think the sane and well learned leaders of Israel would acts out on Trump words to ban our congresswomen. It shows how strong a motivator Trump is. When he can get world leader to carry out actions against our elected leaders, what chances do the less learned and sane have?
That's a fascinating little stat. I don't think the racism angle is all that interesting on this one, it's the cult of personality of Trump. Beyond his policies or his ideology, there is a certain segment that has a personal allegiance to the man and not the office. You could have had violence inspired by Bush's or Obama's words -- say, about Muslim extremism or police brutality. But the perpetrators wouldn't say they did it for Bush or Obama, they'd say they did it to protect Americans or Muslims or cops or blacks. But with Trump it is different. The motivation might be much the same, like protecting Americans from the Hispanic invasion, but the perps have been imprinted with their own subservience to this man, Trump. You can see this behavior also in things like posting the trolling God King memes, lionizing him in song, extolling his wealth, business acumen and sexual conquests, celebrating his belligerence and rule-breaking, etc. We've seen this many times in history before. Yes with Hitler but with many, many leaders, mostly dictators but also democratic leaders with strong authoritarian tendencies. A list so long that Wikipedia has a big entry for it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cults_of_personality. Of course, Trump can't go nearly as far as some of those guys in developing a cult of the leader, another benefit of strong democratic institutions.
Proves that Trump's golf time is the best for America. Hope Trump can rest more. Bush committed war crime. He did not need any motivator.
Except Bush and Obama's were careful in their words to not incite violence and there have been no crimes in their name. It's a nice and interesting theory that there is X amount of violence to be had, X might be associated with Y, but X will still happen regardless of Y. I don't buy it. Yes, there is X amount, but it's influenced by Y to at least some degree for Y to be associated with it. Without Y, there may or may not be a Z. Maybe some very clever social scientist can figure this out.
Trump literally praising a politician who was charged with assault for assaulting a reporter. More examples.
Sure, and I don't mean to imply that Trump's rhetoric is having no effect. I'm just thinking about what it means for the cult.
He may not be racist but he pedals in racist rhetoric to fire up his base. He is using red herrings which is far worse. As he doesn’t care about the country he is leading all he cares about is himself and power. That my friend is far dangerous.
Those people who hate on gay people and always turn out to be repressed homosexuals are called Republicans.
I didn’t take it that way. Yea, it’s unfortunate. There is so much lost of autonomy as are part of the cult. Someday, people will look back to this period with disbelief similar to how we have looked back to some dark time in history.
