So, I learned a scoring rule I didn't know. Hitting into a double play with zero outs does not give you an RBI even if a runner on third scores because of it. See here. It's specifically called out as not an RBI. I guess it's kind similar to how you don't credited with a steal on a catcher's indifference. I was interested because the Astros had 23 runs, but only 21 RBIs.

One of those was a balk that scored Bregman. The other was Yordan hitting into a DP with Jake scoring. So, Yordan effected the scoring of 8 runs but was only credited with 7 RBIs.

And if you want to have a little extra fun...the guy at the plate when the pitcher balked Bregman in? Yordan Alvarez. Let's just say he scared a run home.

Winner of the trading lottery this year: Aaron Sanchez.

First game with new team: pitches 2/3rds of a no-hitter.
Second game with new team: witnesses most runs ever scored in one game by new team.

In the past five games against the Yankees and us, the Orioles have been outscored 58-16. That includes us beating them 3-2 last night. Also, we only surrendered 4 of those 16 runs they scored.

He now moved up to 14th all time for a single season slugging percentage. He started the night 49th place all time.

That's insane. Between this guy and Harden last year. Some historic numbers going on.

On a night that saw an historic Astros win, that is the one lesson learned going forward. He can’t seem to exit a game against the ***tty Orioles without giving up a home run. Should be helpful in informing who makes our playoff roster.

    Yordan is crushing it.
Wonder how many more ab's he needs to qualify for the leauge leaders in stats?

    Dodgers won 4-0.
We're still in front of them in the standings but they have a +1 in run differential.
We made up -17 tonite though.

He won’t qualify for league leaders; he’d have to average almost 7 PA’s a game til the end of the season to get close.

    It’s 3.1 PA’s per game over a 162 game seasons (~502 PA’s). He’s way short.

He’ll just have to settle for the ROY and presumably WS-MVP.

I'd be curious to know if any of the baseball writers who vote on these things have been saying anything about RoY considerations. I can just already see shenanigans when it comes down to it.

"Oh, but he didn't play a full season, so ____."
"Oh, but he's mainly a DH, and I'm one of those old school douches that doesn't respect that."

Plus, you've got a famous name out there in Vlad Jr., and no one's heard of this Alvarez despite his legendary numbers. Basically, I'm thinking like a Harden MVP voter, so as stupidly as I can muster. It hurts.

I'm watching the replay as I get ready for bed, and it's the top of the 7th and the Astros only have 14 runs. So much left to go. :D

On a more serious, but very important note, let us thank the baseball gods that Martin Maldonado was not hurt on that pitch towards his head. Looking at it again, I'm not sure if it did bounce off the bat and hit him or not, but it very easily could have rebounded into the unprotected ear and we'd be down a catcher again. Of all the positive things that happened tonight, it's good that nothing negative happened there. Ugh, it was nauseating to watch, though.

Oh, hey, Yordan Alvarez is up to bat with the bases loaded...

In the previous 4 games against Baltimore this season, the Astros were 3-1 and scored a total of 12 runs. They nearly doubled that tonight in one game.

Had it hit him after hitting the bat it would have been a foul ball.
