http://www.brooksbaseball.net/outco...rtDate=03/30/2007&endDate=08/04/2019&s_type=2 The biggest change was that he barely threw any sinkers and replaced those pitches with Four seam fastballs up high.
I like the trade for sure. Just don't like the idea that Sanchez is suddenly fixed because of one outing, which I feel like it's getting implied in some comments.
Not “fixed”... but likely will have a better approach going forward with this staff vs the one he was previously with. I meant before that this wasn’t really a trade in the sense that the Astros were giving up current or future value. This is found money.
Definitely not 'fixed' but an improved pitch mix is going to yield immediate results, assuming the increased curve rate doesn't flare up his blister problem. I was kinda concerned with his fastball command. He missed some sinkers/4-seams middle-middle but didn't pay for it. He's got stuff to work on.
Read the wiki page on it, the story around the book is really cool too. Make sure you get the 2nd edition, that had some additional stuff in it.
I was extremely surprised at how good his change up looked. His curve and change are two serious weapons. Needs to work on fb command for sure.
Any no-hitter is special. Absurdly special. There have been 218,757 major league games since 1876. There have been 302 no-hitters in that time. 302 / 218757 x100 = 0.138%. There have been 14 combined no-hitters. 14 / 218757 x100 = 0.0064%. The Astros have two of those. What we saw was an extremely rare and awesome thing. The fact that it was thrown primarily by two brand-new Astros in front of the greatest-ever assemblage of legendary Astros turns this from math into myth. No one couldn't have scripted this any better. Let's appreciate this as one of the greatest moments in Astros' history. I know I always will.
His control is gonna need to be a lot better if he wants to keep having good results. Against the orioles you can survive, but getting well behind in the count against good teams is gonna get you lit up. Solo HR don't beat you, traffic does. I doubt we've had very much time to really go over things with him. He's still a work in progress, but regardless of competition good results are good results.
