I think the real winner here will be Tyson Chandler playing with the top 2 players in the league at getting their centers easy buckets. If he can stay healthy, I can see him giving us Mutumbo-esque production in his last year or two.

3 of the top 7 were from the hands of Westbrook. Impressive, but also... #usagerate

Assists don't count in the usage rate; it's shots+fouls+turnovers per possessions...

There is another thing in play here: it's just another stat that highlights how incredibly thin OKC was last year. Only four players had meaningful +/- : RW, PG, Adams and Grant. Not surprisingly they all feature in the list.
Russ has his imperfections for sure, but the OKC problems were that they didn't have enough good payers...

What that list tells me is that people equate boring to unsuccessful. When the game starts with Capela we beast on the PnR with Capela and when he goes out we forget how to play and only brought it back in other parts with Faried. Russ is a carbon copy clone of Harden in terms of THIS style. Also, Tyson knows how to play with D'Antoni in this style. It is deadly and it always pissed me off that we tried to much finesse crap and got lazy later. The standing around lazy ass 3PT attempts in the 3rd and early 4th always pissed me off when the team forgot how to play and just wanted to coast through games even when losing. They always had to turn the engine back on and many times too late. To hell with that. When you are murdering the other team stay committed to the job.

How can you forget all the Harden assists to himself?

That patented Harden travel into step back three is a dime.

Thanks for sharing, that's promising and also shows how CP3 did not have a connection with anyone. Confirms the eye test and surprised me the most that he wasn't able to throw lobs to Capela for a such a great PG. He did have a connection with Ryno, those guys knew each other and whenever CP3 whipped him a pass, it was almost automatic.

You misunderstood me. I'm saying if you handle the ball more than just about anyone, you'll appear in the OP's list more often.

Great point on them being thin!

Ah yes, same as when they had olidipo and sabonis. It’s crazy how all of Westbrook’s teammates magically become terrible when they’re on his team.

Clint's shoes will be smoking this year, busy running to catch assists.

In some fairness to CP3, this list is ranked by total volume assists. CP3 missed a lot of games, plus he staggered minutes with the 2nd unit. So that cuts down on total minutes to one player.

Can also show CP3 isnt reliant on 1 player for assists. He had more assists/gm than Harden but in 5 less minutes/gm. I personally dont care if 95% of assists goes to 1 player, as long as it destroying the opponent. Just some added considerations on it.

Good chart. Makes kinda sense, Russ was #1 in assist in the league last year. James was #7.

Like two QBs and their fav wide receivers.

It's a shame Chris Paul and Clint Capela are not on that list.

Paul never developing chemistry with Clint is definitely one of the stranger aspects of his time here. That should have been just as elite as Harden to Clint, but for whatever reason, didn't happen. Westbrook will probably be much improved in that regard, so that's exciting.
