Jonathan Arauz just hit his first Texas League home run. The solo shot is his ninth of the year, which is also a new career-high for him.

Bryan Abreu and Cristian Javier combined to shut out Frisco tonight.

    Abreu: 5 IP, H, 4 BB, 5 K
    Javier: 4 IP, 2 H, BB, 8 K

Javier has allowed 43 hits in 93.2 innings this season; with Corpus, he's given up 28 in 65. He now has 136 strikeouts between Corpus and Fayetteville. Jonathan Arauz went 3-4 and drove in both of Corpus Christi's runs; in addition to the homer, he also hit an RBI single.

I sure wish the Astros knew how to develop pitchers.

Why do you say that? He's supposed to have a cannon of an arm.

Just his body type (judging from that extremely short video). Lots of 1B have good arms, they just don’t have the mobility to stick at 3B.

11th round pick Ryan Gusto still has not shown up on a roster. All the other picks announced as signed have appeared in a pro game.

DSL standout Yohander Martinez was absent from the lineup for the 2nd straight game. He's played every game since the 2nd week of the season, so it seems likely he's headed stateside (or he's injured). He made BA's list of standout DSL hitters, where they cited his contact skills, plate discipline, and ability to play on the middle infield as reasons for optimism.

Was it a "Texas League HR" or was it a "HR in the TX League"?

After his walk-off homer last night, Joe Perez has homered again for Tri-City. This 3-run blast gives him four home runs on the season.

Earlier today in the complex leagues, James Nix (1) and Colin Barber (2) both homered in the GCL. Cristian Gonzalez hit his first career home run down in the Dominican; that game was suspended due to rain.

After going 3-4 with his first homer in the Texas League last night, Jonathan Arauz is currently 2-3 with a two-run triple.

Seems like he's a good AFL candidate, so they can get more information as to whether or not they should protect him this offseason.

Good idea. My current AFL candidates: Shaver, Matijevic, Arauz, Meyers, Ivey, Paredes, Donato

    Torres' last 3 games: 17 IP 6H 0R 1BB 22Ks.

Wonder if he gets a shot in AA soon?
