Obama thinks he’s got all the answers, but interestingly enough, couldn’t do anything about it, even when dems controlled the house and senate!
The reality is that a majority of our country wants to protect the right to bear arms. We can sit here, talk about gun control and what needs to be done, that we need tougher background checks, need to close loopholes, etc etc. Criminals will do what criminals will do and that's get their hands on guns one way or another. In this country, there is no shortage of weapons and there never will be. The reality is that those that defend the 2nd amendment are okay with gun violence. They are okay with the murder rate. Their right to own a weapon trumps any other issue. My feeling is that even with stricter regulation, we will continue seeing cases like this every year. Ultimately, guns are out there and one way or another criminals will get their hands on them. I'm sure we will continue hearing the usual rhetoric from both sides, but ultimately, not many have the balls to actually come out and say that the right to bear arms needs to be abolished.
El Pigito, You nailed it. There is a segment of the US population who care more about their personal liberties, personal advantages and personal privileges, than the greater good of society.
"Democrats had “total control” of the House of Representatives from 2009-2011, 2 full years. Democrats, and therefore, Obama, had “total control” of the Senate from September 24, 2009 until February 4, 2010. A grand total of 4 months".........also MAGA terrorists were hiding in their holes all the time, lucky Barack. let's see what Trump can do.
Remember when this country didn't have a white nationalist, Putin and Kim lover as its president? Now those were the good ole days.
fox and friends and the rest of the trump messaging department attempt shade but Aaron Blade goes right to the point...
Good post but I will point out we don't need to abolish the Second Amendment to get reasonable and good gun control. There is nothing in the Second that prevents background checks, registration, and regulation on type and capacity of weapon. Even Antonin Scalia affirmed this in the DC v Heller case.
Funny how trump's spokesman kellyanne decides its now safe to talk about mass shooters... Of course, CNN had already reported on it... including: Front page: https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/05/us/connor-betts-dayton-shooting-profile/index.html And this https://mailchi.mp/cnn/rs-aug-5-2019
Let's just be clear, the Dayton shooter didn't kill for a leftist agenda - a big difference with the El Paso shooter. They are looking for some kind of equivalency here. Oh, let's try to make the left look bad. But the politics of the shooter only come into play for the El Paso shooter because he targeted people due to his politics.
Fwiw, he could have done it too help further gun control. Sad that racism can be considered politics, but that is what the right has seemingly added to their agenda.
Go show me the scientific link that has been studied in the correlation between wanting to do away with assault weapons & put in place background checks .... and the urge to go on a machine gun rampage. My goodness... I'm just so upset about universal healthcare that I think the only thing left for me to do is to go put more people in the hospital. The El Paso Shooter, and the Pipe Bomber's actions were directly influenced by Trumpism. Its in their own words & actions that are directly tied to a political agenda. THAT is the point. The Bernie supporter who shot Steve Scalise.... yeah... that was political terrorism meant to send a message to Republicans, and guess what.... we ALL condemn that, and wish we could have legislation in place that would have prevented him from getting that weapon. Legislation Steve Scalise & the other Republicans refuse to even consider that could have saved their lives if those bullets hit an artery or something. If you don't see the point here then you just aren't approaching this with seriousness. Which is why the person interviewing Kellyanne this AM should have shut that down instead of letting her filibuster the interview.
kellyanne is a key trump enabler... so transparent in her hate-filled agenda. I saw her interviewed by Christiane Amanpour, watching her try to throw weak "gotchas" while ducking direct questions... https://www.thedailybeast.com/cnns-...-kellyanne-conway-on-trumps-role-in-shootings
Strong gun control measures really needed to be bipartisan, not seen as being forced onto the country by a black President who was being portrayed as a Muslim, socialist radical. And what you are referring to was essentially a four month window (well before Sandy Hook), during which he had another major piece of legislation he was focused on getting through the door.
