Like the Old San Jacinto Inn and Monument Inn. Fried chicken, bbq, catfish, etc.

BBQ Inn is a must for their fried chicken. Best in town.
Relish I just stumbled on, but I've been really impressed. Their house-made pickles on their burger makes it a must try and I just had their fried chicken with a rosemary biscuit, honey dipping sauce and fantastic collard greens.
Frenchy's is a given, but I'm talking about sit-down places.

    Thoughts?

Not yet. I've been wanting to go, but have heard the wait is awful. Disappointed that the owners are building out two new places that will focus on drinks. Could be trouble to go outside their wheelhouse.

I like Jack Allen's kitchen in Austin. Dunno if it's in other cities in Texas.

Seconded. As good as the chicken is (and it's fantastic), the biscuits...indescribable. The original location is actually a place called Bubba's on Hillcrest just off the campus of SMU. They have the same menu for lunch and dinner, but they also serve breakfast. The best in Metroplex.

Been to the one in Frisco numerous times (often after basketball tournaments at the Fieldhouse). Great chicken, and the creamed corn is good enough to be dessert.

Are there any Grandy's still in existence?

It's not. He's an Austin based chef. Not sure I'd consider it Southern but it is a very good restaurant...at least the one in Round Rock is. Used to go often when I lived there.

Yes there surprisingly are close to 50 locations.

They have always made good money but have been sold several times and made poor executive decisions. They have a new CEO and have seen profits rise and are considering expansion in the next year or two.

This would qualify as a poor executive decision...

Someone took a picture of this as an example of something you should purchase. Figures they're most in dallas.

Marie Callendars. As good as their frozen food is, as far as frozen foods go, their restaurant is probably good.

On a quick search there doesnt seem to be any in Texas anymore. I remembered there was one I would always pass in Austin or San Antonio, dont really remember, but never stopped in.
