Astros acquire Joe Biagini & Aaron Sanchez from Toronto

If they like what they see I hope they go the Sonny Gray route and try to get a cheap extension in the off-season while he still has depressed value.

Turning him around and then locking in the value on say a 4/$40m contract would kick the window open. There's a ton of incentive on his side to take that because he's pitched like **** for 3 years and is looking at 1-year, value-rebuild contracts in FA anyway.

 

Wow, it really is as simple as “throw this, not that”.

Teams are going to stop trading with Houston.

 

They’re not going to reveal all their secrets... but they obviously know how to make pitchers with legit MLB stuff better.

Still baffling why they can’t groom their own as readily... but this may be the new formula. Take castoffs with tools.

 

At the game, and Sanchez has 6K and 0 runs so far and a no hitter with two walks through six innings. Looking good!

 

I really want Fisher to do well in Toronto.

 

To paraphrase Luhnow, it's just "good business" when the guys you trade succeed elsewhere. And I, too am interested to see what Fish will do with a genuine opportunity.

The only thing better would have been including Biggio in the trade, who then goes on to HoF career with Astros.

 

I don't think they wanted to entertain the thought of him going 9, especially considering his injury history.

 

Had bad reception listening to radio on way home last night, but sounded like in postgame show that this is a nervous habit of his to check fingers.

 

Now had it been just one more inning, he would have started it.
