That sounds familiar but I seemed to remember Bell, Biggio and Bagwell coming up small. The more I I think about it they had multiple chances to win in extra innings.
Damn, someone inject some fun or excitement into Greinke. Michael Brantley thinks that guy is boring. And that fake comedian Joe Biagini. Zack, thoughts when you found out you were gonna join this club and be able to pitch with Verlander, Cole & the rest of this staff? I don't know. I haven't...didn't think about it right away. I don't know. Just don't really know what I was thinking. Thoughts on Verlander on down who are thrilled to have you here? It's nice. It'll be fun. Expectations? Happy to be here in Houston. Pretty darn good team, maybe the best team I've played with and I've been on some good teams. There's a good chance it's the most talented team I've been on. What excites you most being part of this team? Probably just being able to watch them play every day & be around some good players. Any time you're on a new team, especially like this, there's a lot of learning you can do. More fun to watch than your average team. It'll be nice during games watching good baseball. Is that(championship) the only thing missing from your career at this point, considering how successful you've been? I don't think about things that's missing in a career but I have not been to or won a World Series so that is true it's something that's missing. Thoughts about Justin Verlander? Yeah, he's really good. Still really good. Was really good. Yeah, that's it. Something about his career or approach you admire? What was the beginning of that? Something about his career or approach you admire? No probably. Some say this is the best rotation in baseball. Thoughts? It's up there. There's some other good ones though. Haven't seen the AL a bunch but there's some good ones in the NL, that's for sure.
To back up this point, in 2006, Greinke was diagnosed with social anxiety disorder after quitting baseball. https://www.google.com/amp/s/abcnew...astery-mystery-zack-greinke/story?id=34389507
I think that's why someone said Houston was a good spot for him. Not a super big market like NY and with Verlander and Cole, all the attention won't be on him. He could just let the reporters talk to those 2.
Its sad that people are questioning his happiness or why he looks miserable. He doesnt even look up in interviews/doesnt have social media and has panic attacks when hes pushed to speak. Its really quite sad how ignorant people are when it comes to mental health in this country.
Completely agree. Houston isn’t a small market but the local media does a good job of giving players their space. And, like you said, there are many other great players on this team to deflect attention away from him.
Gerrit Cole said he has gotten to know Greinke personally the past few years and he loves him. Clayton Kershaw loved him too. From all the stories I have seen, he is a great student of the game. His teammates love when he pulls them to the side to give them pointers because he has an excellent baseball mind. That's all I need to know about him.
