It’s a tourist trap but has a nice view to take your lady or if you swing that way a guy.

If you've never been? Go to Esther's Follies on East 6th. Hilarious comedy club, heavy on the political satire. If you like jazz, the Alex Coke/Rich Harney Quartet is at the Elephant Room on Congress from 9:30 -1:30 tonight. Good classic jazz. Sax, piano, upright bass, drums. Amy LeVere and Will Sexton are at the Cactus Cafe at UT tomorrow night. There has to be some blues playing somewhere tonight and/or tomorrow night. You could check the Continental Club. The Saxon Pub on S. Lamar always has live music. Not a place to dance, though. Can get crowded, but usually has good to great Austin bands. Honestly, there are loads of clubs here. Good luck!

That sounds awful. I've never been into live music venues, which is ironic, because I did once sideline as a Country Singer.

Everything sounds awful to you unless you posted it. It's a tired shtick, but hey, you be you.

I can count 5 things on the first page I find interesting. The fact that I don't like live music shouldn't offend you, but hey, you be you...

I specialize in me being me. I didn't know you didn't like live music and I definitely don't share that with you. I could list dozens of famous groups, singers, and musicians I saw back when you were but a twinkle in your Dad's eye, if that, but I won't bore you. Enjoy your time!

It is just always too loud and it makes everyone yell at each other. I much prefer being social to people when I'm out, and live music seriously hinders that, at least until they take a break.

That's cool. It's not for everybody. I have good friends who never read fiction, which is a mystery to me. If we were all alike, it would be a terribly boring world.

    Uh....wow. Barfly gonna barfly.

And I'm not sure you know the meaning of "ironic".

A live music singer who doesn't like live music. Pretty much the definition of irony.

We're now assuming that you are a singer? Just messing with you, man.

@YallMean, what part of town will you be in?

Thanks! Came to the Elephant room. Alex was amazing! Really enjoyed it. Too bad I am leaving Friday night. Would have planned to stay one more night!

Great suggestions! I've lived in Austin area forever now and definitely need to go to some of these places more often. Thanks for the reminder

That's awesome, I need to get down that way soon. I'm a lot closer to oasis/domain depending on time of day/traffic. Definitely stay longer next time, plenty of stuff to do.
