That's 3 playoff runs - when you've got Altuve-Correa-Bregman core under contract for the offense (plus Yordan and Tucker), and the backend of the bullpen anchored by Pressly and Osuna for all 3 years, locking up a 2nd ace is worth it.
People forget that Aaron Sanchez has legit TOR type of stuff. Has an electric fastball and with Strom and verlander mentoring him, hopefully he can develop into a solid #3.
outside of the *one* beltran trade (greatest news of my childhood?), the old ownership acquired, what, aubrey huff and ty wiggington? jason jennings? kaz mastui and carlos lee? a washed up kent? what a joke. We rarely ever brought in expensive players let alone stars. huge kudos to jim crane. thank you for giving this city what it deserves. he's held his word about about spending big and bringing a winner to town, bravo, crane, bravo...
(Forgets pettite/Clemens and the playoff runs with them)... but yes, this is the best ownership:GM combo in Houston sports history.
All fair points. Also speaks to the quality farm we’ve established. Hard to make meaningful trades when you don’t have a farm system!
2020 Rotation 1. Verlander 2. Greinke 3. LMJ 4. Sanchez 5. Peacock With Urquidy and Whitley available as well
I don't think our manager considers Peacock a starter anymore. In an emergency, perhaps, but I'd put a lot of confidence in Whitley being up and running out of Spring Training, or Urquidy as #5 until Super 2 passes next season for Whitley. I also wouldn't rule out an offer to Miley to stay.
Hearing those words from a Yankees fan might be the greatest sound in the world. ESPECIALLY considering it was the Astros that made him say it.
James and Bielak will probably get to fight for the 5th starter spot as well. Maybe even Cionel and Martes. They'll probably look for another Miley/Morton type project, though Sanchez might be filling that role. I wonder how much they'll try out some young guys in the pen to help offset the loss of Smith/Harris/Rondon(not that he's much of a loss)
