No reason to be worried. The Astros now have a playoff rotation of Verlander-Cole-Greinke-Miley. All I have to say is good luck to the rest of baseball.

If we gave up Beer and Bukauskas I imagine Arizona is picking up a lot of money.

This organization is certainly not f**king around.

I thought Beer might turn into something, but for 2019 and 2020 when I see no less than 1 ring and at least an ALCS appearance, you make that move. Those banners hang forever and I want to see more than 1 here in town.

No, it’s not. Zack Greinke is an ace-caliber starting pitcher, and Lunhow made this trade without giving up either Tucker or Whitley. That’s as much as any fan could hope for.

Word is Astros are eating up majority of the salary. I suppose you can kiss Cole goodbye this season.

Also, with the Beer trade, expect to see Tucker get more time at 1B, since Beer had the inside path to being our 1B of the future. Gonna miss Rojas, and Martin, but hope we can get another trophy out of this.

That is quite a lot to give up, but quite honestly I don't care. You keep your top two prospects (each of whom can easily turn into a star) and you acquire a legit ace to round out the best pitching staff in baseball and you now have a guaranteed elite top 2 pitchers in JV and Greinke for the next two seasons as well. Because you also gave up some really solid prospects you're likely not eating much of his contract. That leaves the door ever so cracked for you to re-sign Cole in the offseason if you really want to. This is an incredible deal.

With Greinke due $35M each of the next two seasons, I suppose this means we won't have Cole on the mound for us next year. He's going to demand a king's ransom, and will likely get it.

Actually Arizona is giving them some money since the Astros gave up good prospects similar to Verlander's deal.

3 of the top pitchers in all of baseball in WHIP start for the Astros.

I’m going to set up a tent downtown to save my spot for the parade.

If Cole does walk, getting Greinke ensures they have an elite one-two punch next season, too. This trade is a win for the Astros on practically all levels.
