Would we have landed on the Moon if Kennedy had not been Assasinated?

With the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing last week I've been watching and reading up on a lot of stuff about the NASA and Apollo Program. I just watched this piece and it brought up an interesting part of history that I didn't know.

Just an FYI Vintage Space is a great series for those interested space history and the host isn't some internet crank but actually works for NASA. She pointed out that few months before Kennedy's death he expressed doubts about the idea of a US moon mission and wanted to offer an international mission with the Russians as a peace initiative. Kennedy's assassination locked in Johnson, and subsequently Nixon, into fulfilling Kennedy's dream.

My question isn't to say that we as humans never would've gone to the Moon but whether Apollo and a US only effort would've done it before the decade of the 60's was over. I'm very curious to hear what many of you think since Houston was made famous by Johnson putting the human space flight and Mission Control here, there are many Clutchfans who work for NASA, or related organizations. I'm also curious to hear what some posters like Deckard who were alive both when Kennedy made the pledge to go the Moon and when we finally did think.

Congress had already drawn a bright line for JFK though, passing NASA budgets that forbade collaboration. That was after his "let us do the great (the big?) things together" speech.

America's history is littered with great intentions, and great beginnings, followed by extended periods of inaction, until almost inadvertently we fall into a truth and the right way to finish it. It's an American trait. All you have to do is look at the Washington Monument, it's sitting as a stump for 50 years, and Democracy to see it. The Moon is and will be no different. There is more to do, but we will almost, and if by accident, fall into the right reason to bring this to completion. Her original premise is on the mark, but it cant be changed because it's ingrained in our heritage as a trait. One that somehow works, but can't be explained until after the moment occurs.

Vintage Space is a great video series on YouTube. I have found it to be extremely informative. I was shocked when I heard that Kennedy actually wanted to shut the Apollo program down. What an incredible twist of fate in history

Your premise is a bit off as majority of millennials don't actually believe that we landed on the moon. Furthermore the Kennedy assassination has been clouded in mystery as no one is certain if Oswald acted alone or if there was someone else on the grassy knoll on that fateful day. Recent polls have cited about 50% of public don't believe the truth is fully explained on either of these "events".

If there was a 2nd shooter, one likely suspect was Woody Harrelson's dad. I'm not kidding. He was a known hired-gun for pretty much anyone. Did a lot of work (allegedly) for the East Texas Mafia.
