In his first appearance as a member of the Astros organization, Andre Scrubb walked one and struck out two in a scoreless 9th inning as Corpus Christi smacked Northwest Arkansas 18-6. The Hooks scored 11 runs in the 8th to blow this one open.

This does not happen much, right?

I hope Bryan Martinez speaks The Spanish.

    ETA:

After two years at a JUCO, Martinez projects to GCL or even TriCity.

There are a lot of 17-18 year olds in the DSL. That is high school baseball, albeit very good high school baseball, perhaps a good USA travel team.

I think you can only assign a drafted player to the DSL if he's born outside of the United States or in Puerto Rico. It appears that Bryan Martinez was born in the Dominican Republic.

can't think of any 22-year-olds in high school baseball off the top of my head

MLB.com updated their prospect list with draftees. Here are where the new guys ranked in our top 30:

    7. Korey Lee
    11. Jordan Brewer
    16. Grae Kessinger
    25. Colin Barber
    27. Hunter Brown

Astros only had 3 in the top 100 with Martin dropping out and Beer entering at 100. Tucker was 13th and Whitley was 17th

Abraham Toro hit two home runs last night, giving him 16 on the year.

The first was a two-run shot and then he was the first in a series of back-to-back-to-back solo homers with Seth Beer and Colton Shaver. He also hit the go-ahead RBI double in the 10th inning of Corpus Christi's 7-6 win in Springfield.

Beer and Shaver now have 24 and 15 home runs, respectively. Chuckie Robinson also hit a solo home run for the Hooks, his 7th of the year.

Toro is having a hell of a season after a somewhat slow start. He looks ready for a promotion.

Looks like that lineup was incorrect, Papierski is catching.

Whitley is through 2 perfect innings with 5 k.

This is one of the most promising minor league performances throughout the entire organization all season long. If this is him getting back on track that is HUGE news.
