He's one of the players I thought about with this thread. He's in that weird Donovan McNabb/Mike Mussina (inducted, this year) category where the numbers are almost there and automatic entry. But, the writers will point out their lowlights and shortcomings.

For example, McNabb's is not winning a Super Bowl with a few extra elite seasons.

Mussina being under 300 in an era with many dominant seasons, though being on the Yankees and being a very good pitcher, helped.

Unlike those two, Melo has the ultra numbers to get in, but his playoff success is skeleton thin.

Melo is a first ballot 100% HOF.

Guys like Mitch Richmond, that was never as good as Melo, in the HOF. Plus Melo has that Player of the Year and Olympic record.

His college career and Olympic career would make him 1st ballot HOF.

Remember, this is BASKETBALL HOF. There is no NBA HOF.

There are tons of people in the BASKETBALL HOF that we never heard of.

Ralph Sampson for god sake is in the HOF because of his College Career

    Shawn Marion.

4x All-Star, 2x All-NBA, contributor on multiple teams that made deep playoff runs, won a ring with Dallas. Top 50 ALL TIME in career win shares.

He deserves it, but for some reason I'd be pretty shocked if he actually made it in.

These are some good names. Did you mean A.C. Green or Horace Grant?

I think he should and will get in eventually.

2019 his first year eligible. It was a weak class but that would’ve made him a first ballot HOFer so that was a nope.

2020 class will be deep. Kobe, KG and Duncan for sure. Unfortunately you can’t put him in that class cause he played in the same era and he’s simply not on those guys level

Maybe in 2021 or 2022. He deserves it.

I do not keep up with who is or is not in the NBA Hall of Fame, but ...

I can not believe that Horry is not in the Hall. He was on 7 championship teams. He hit big shots in all of those 7 championship runs.

    7? I thought it was 5 or 6. He'll get in. Eventually.
