Robert Mueller, Former F.B.I. Director, Is Named Special Counsel for Russia Investigation

Part of the problems stem from the idea that hostile powers still seek to undermine our democracy and the President welcomes it, and the Republicans are blindly following along and allowing it. Let's work on that problem too.

 

I wish it was over. Sadly it isn't. Mitch the Turtle refuses to take measures to protect our democracy. We know the Russians are still seeking to meddle, and Trump denies it's happening and says that he'd be happy to accept their help.

I truly wish it was over and that wasn't happening.

Sizzle Chest, you know Russian meddling was not what this was all about. Don't be fake. No one's buying that act. The Special Counsel was interested in one thing -- and one thing only -- to get Trump. Unfortunately for them, and fortunately for our democracy, there was no collusion between Trump and Russia. That has now been proven for all to see. Democrats lied and promoted a hoax for 2 years, and now the gig is up. Shame on all of you for promoting false charges of collusion. You got played.

What actually happened -- and believe me, I know -- was the following:
1. The Russian investigation was set up to attempt to find dirt on Trump. That dirt could then be used to boot Trump out of office, should Trump's approval fall to a level where his popular support would allow an impeachment. John McCain's hatred of Trump provided the bipartisan cover to allow all of these baseless Russian accusations to move forward. That my friends, is also called a coup. McCain, once a hero, will now be remembered by Republicans as being dishonest and vindictive to the point of threatening our democracy.
2. The intel agencies believe they run the country. Unleashing an investigation puts the CIA/FBI/NSA back in the driver's seat, and keeps them in control of Trump, should they find something. Power is the goal.
3. Former FBI Director Mueller knows that the Trump campaign was spied on by the FBI. A big thrust behind the Special Counsel's investigation was to legitimize that spying, and avoid it being considered scandalous by hyping up the (negligible) impact of Russian meddling. Covering tracks of their friends.
4. The meddling in our election was done by the media, DNC, and intel agencies. They tried to reverse the election results. That's the very definition of meddling. They tried to steal the election. How can any of you support this?!

What we know now is that "Russia gate" is over. Not a single American was charged for conspiracy with Russia. None. After perhaps the most thorough investigation in history. It's time to man up and come to grips with that fact.

I totally agree with what you stated... but there's a flip side that the Republicans should worry about.

They have outlined new rules to the game and you have a lot of young dems such as AOC who will learn those rules and expand them to fit there needs...

It is now painfully obvious Mueller himself was just a figurehead who had very little to do with this investigation.

 

Correct, behind the scenes there was a democratic dream team hell bent on bringing this president down after he was setup and that’s all they could muster.

 

I am sure Mitch will be more than willing to pass legislation to protect our democracy once we identify who interfered with it and how it was done. The ongoing investigations into the origins of this whole fiasco will reveal the role of the three letter agencies and how they went rogue. Mitch and Trump will be very willing to pass legislation to keep it from ever happening again. The real question is will Nancy work with them to do it?

 

Most people figured it was Weissmann running the show. Mueller confirmed that yesterday.

Just yesterday the GOP blocked two election security bills through the Alabama Congresswomen that had nothing to do with any of the excuses you are raising. Knowing about the Steel Dossier origins has nothing to do with a measure to ensure candidates for office alert law enforcement if they are approached by foreign nationals with an offer.

This is an excuse. There’s no reason why Mitch McConnell would need to wait on the freaking Dossier investigation to pass election security bills that have nothing to do with that topic. Those bills are already on his desk.

You know exactly what your and your party’s effort is here. You are trying to seem like you want to do the right thing but you don’t actually want to because you think your party will benefit with Russian and Saudi help in 2020. It’s so obvious at this point you’d be better off just owning it. You don’t give a sh$t about free and fair elections because you know free and fair elections don’t benefit your cult political party desperately grasping to hold onto power.

I’m pretty sure people have heard of it if they monitor politic, and that people that got sold on the conspiracy theory around it think it’s significant.

Meanwhile...

 

They know who attacked us and how. The problem is because not enough was done about it, the list of attackers is growing. Two new election security bills were just blocked by your party yesterday.

The investigation into the investigation is happening. If they find anything, that will come out. There is nothing more to discuss there except that it is distracting from the real threat of Russia and other nations attacking our democracy while our administration and Republicans make it a priority to stop it and protect us from it.
