He's a flip flopper. He's gone on record saying super teams are not good for the leauge.

“I don’t think it’s good for the league, just to be really clear,” Silver said at a press conference Tuesday night following the conclusion of the league’s Board of Governors meetings. “I will say, whoever is favored, try telling that to the 420 other players who aren’t on those two teams. We have the greatest collection of basketball players in the world in our league, so I’m not making any predictions."

But there’s no question when you aggregate the great players [on those two teams] they have a better chance of winning than many other teams … It’ll be interesting to see what happens. But to be absolutely clear, I don’t think it’s ideal from a league standpoint."

While true it’s still problematic. Three stars ended up in LA and another two in Brooklyn. One went to Miami (to be followed by another) and another forced his way here.

Some teams are essentially rookie farms.

this kind of stuff is pure gimmicks. its a players league and they all decide most of what to do well before any of these so called dates. well the stars do. the lower players wait and follow the domino effect

Huh. I could have sworn, but I'm not about to try and dig up, that he also publicly said the best the NBA has ever done economically was during times of very few dominant teams: Showtime vs the Celtics and Sixers, Michael's Bulls, Warriors/Cavs. As opposed to more widely competitive eras.

Well, if your quote is how he now feels, it can't be terribly difficult for the NBA to find evidence of guys engaging in anti-competitive behavior by tampering with other team's players before the allowed date. And punish that behavior, by means such as cancelling trades or taking away draft picks. You thought this year's offseason was chaotic before...

Had the NBA done so, way back at Lebron's decision, the NBA would be a drastically different place.

They don't want to change anything, this is very mild and half-assed. Per usual with the league.

Well because the tampering rule is nonsensical and can't be prevented. It's like the law in London where it is illegal to beat and shake rugs on the street after 8 am.

Yep, like they really really care other than where the money rolls in.
