The thing is that Shump isn't a good player. I said this when we traded for him. I hated that trade because I felt we would let him walk the next year because he wasn't good enough to justify keeping. He's a good 1 on 1 defender who gives tremendous effort in that situation and he is capable of stretches of being a good shooter. But overall he's a bad shooter that doesn't know it and wants to take pull up shots and mid range shots.
Miami would have zero interest in this situation. Minnesota would have zero interest in this situation. We're dreaming at this point.
Nothing about dreaming. Financially it's enough. Tilly won't add salary. Shumpert is walking or he's signing for cheap. Minnesota would 100% bite on Shumpert + FRP or 2 for Covington if they were willing to do it in the previous trade (not sure they were). They could aggregate Shumpert in a DLo trade in December.

wrong. there is always a value to an expiring at the deadline. We dumped Knight on a 2 year deal and Chriss with a FRP for an expiring Shumpert. Are you new to this? You gotta look through the trees to see the forest.

He kinda reminds me of Luc...good on defense but a liability on offense. He'll surprise you with a bucket here and there but it's like playing 4 on 5 on the offensive side.
Here is the current roster: Westbrook Harden Gordon Tucker Capela Chandler Hartenstein House Green Rivers Clemons That is 11 solid players. We need 1 more to complete the roster and it painfully needs to be a power forward like Faried, Iguodala or someone else. We have zero depth at PF. Should be able to find a decent veteran backup.
We're more like 8-9 deep right now. We really need length at the wing. Clark isn't ready to be in the rotation (never will be personally). Capela, Chandler Tucker, Clark Gordon, House Harden, Green Westbrook, Rivers Hartenstein Clemons Bennet Seems like Christian Wood or Faried are good choices for vet min even though I doubt Faried comes back. Justin Holiday will cost too much. I have a feeling this is the team we go forth with.
Shump played the most since his Knicks days, and shot his 2nd highest % from 3, while he was with the Kings ...... Then, he got hurt. Again, he wasn't ever completely healthy for us. Before that,Iman was in LBJ's doghouse, post injury, and never got back into the lineup. That was the deal there. We need this guy. Most here just don't realize that yet.
He did outplay House in the playoffs. Do you think he'll come back for the vet min? I doubt it, but yeah if he's willing.
For the Vet Min, Iman Shumpert would be a huge score for us. 15 minutes of tenacious defense on the NBA’s best players is not easy to find.
At vet minimum he's a good addition but further proof that Tilman isn't willing to spend to win. His value is being paid $13 million where we can keep him if he breaks out or trade him if he doesn't.
Career 38% three point shooter in the playoffs in 1802 minutes. Still only 28 years old and unquestionably an above average defender for 15 minutes a night. Would be a super nice signing for cheap. He can be a good player when he simply runs to the corner on offense and focuses on defense.
Really depends who you are targeting, and what salary that player makes. Maybe Morey is after someone that is still on their rookie contract? Where having Shump on a Min would be more valuable?
Doesn't really matter. All he is is a bench player and a wasted first round pick to duck the tax. They *should* resign him for future trade purposes, but odds are they cheap out.
